Transformative Magic
Universe grinned, a misshapen and haphazard expression, and without breaking eye contact, their hair shrunk from black strands and curled, brazen transformation into bronzed shine as their skin darkening and dotting with stars. Nebulae had surrounded Them at first formation, and here again they coated their face, larger blooms of pale skin forming the curves of clouds in the celestial sky. Only of them their eyes remained the same, and Universe winked as They resettled again.
Transformative magic is the only kind of magic which changes physical matter. It is bound almost solely to Universe and those who bear Their flesh1. The rest of magic, involving the manipulation of life and death energies, are in a sense just a variation of transformative magic using a different type of matter, but this type of classification, which technically accurate, is rarely used due to how little humans practice Transformative magic. In the most basic sense, transformative magic is the changing of one thing into another. Technically speaking, it may be defined as the changing of the properties of physical matter as powered by non-physical energies. Alchemy best fits as a comparative form of magic. Its limitations are bound only by space and energy that can be provided. Unlike other forms of magic, the energy at first provided only works to first transform the subject into the desired substance; true Transformations2 will hold for as long as if their new state were always true. Whereas all other forms of magic may be considered the contortion of the recipient outside of their natural state, and thus will always move toward returning to that original form, Transformative magic involves the permanent shift of the recipient from one form to another. In theory, Transformative magic could move beyond the manipulation of one's own body (as is modern practice by Life and Death). Universe is the only known individual to practice this, however, likely as it is Their sole dominion3. It is unwise for humans to attempt any extent of this, although certain Enchantments may resemble Transformations. It should be noted here that Elemental Transformation, while sharing part of its name with Transformative magic, is a type of Soul Magic whose misnomer arises from humans' late learning about Transformative magic. Within Transformative magics, a few case studies may be discussed. Compared to its siblings under Individual Magic, however, it is relatively limited, and difficult to generalize beyond what has already been stated. Most godly4 abilities concerning dominion5 are included, but are best discussed as they pertain to individuals, rather than as classes of magic.

1 "those who bear Their flesh": referring to the celestial matter making up Universe's body, Life and Death are the only known examples. 2 "true Transformations": Life, Death, and certain individuals may perform "false" Transformations, which are in truth self-applied Enchantments, and do not share the properties of true Transformative magics. 3 "Their sole dominion": though those within Universe's extended family may have analogous abilities within their respective domains, Universe's dominion lays over matter, and thus They are able to manipulate it. Perhaps Their guidance could allow for others to practice this type of magic, but as it was not taught to Life or Death, this is moot. 4 "godly": referring to Universe and their relatives and descendants; mildly facetious. 5 "dominion": the respective energies and types of matter which they embody (life energy for Life; death energy for Death; matter for Universe, etc).
