Wolfbright

Apellon Wolfbright Boduos (a.k.a. Wolf Lord)

Apellon Wolfbright, is a Game Piece who resides on Lithva and is connected to infinite timelines within Caer Wydion. His home is on Sol-III, where he is known as Apollo Cunomaglos (tr. 'Apollo the Hound Prince'). Within the Caer, he is a powerful deity with domain over the Three Realms of the Milky Way galaxy.

As the Game Piece for a deity and an Interdimensional Being, he is both profane and divine. In these realms where he is free from the burden of worship, he often appears as a modest but beautiful hunter. In Caer Wydion, he is the guardian deity of Morwen Morgannwg, who typically refers to him as the Wolf Lord.

The prefix Apellon represents his connection to Apollo, from where he derives secondary power. Wolfbright is a literal translation of Leucolocos, his divine name. His surname can mean both 'crow' and 'victorious', reflecting his status.

Personal history

On Sol-III, Wolfbright was a God of the Pretani people. He is the son of the River Goddess Modrona and the Lightning God Meld.

During the height of his worship, Apollo Cunomaglos appeared before his people as a beautiful young hunter and was worshipped alongside Mithras by the Pretani as well as Coriniaid settlers. He had a large temple and was popular across the southern and most populous part of the Island.

Apollo Cunomaglos and the other old gods fell out of favour when the Coriniaid adopted a new state religion. Due to his popularity and association with the solar deities Apollo and Mithras, his worship lasted about a century longer than most of his fellow deities. However, as the conversions were widespread, his tradition was eventually snuffed out.

Some elements of his original form were preserved in the mythology of the Cymry. He appeared as a legendary founder in the south and gave his name to an important river in the north. Apollo Cunomaglos was rediscovered hundreds of years later along with several carvings of him. With his tradition having been destroyed and scattered, although he revived on land, his heavenly ties were cut.

He served the land as a local forest spirit and protector, as well as a subject for archaeologists and scholars. Cunomaglos eventually developed a connection with the Crooked Mother Goddess' human daughter. After three years together, Morwen was initiated as his seer. This restored Cunomaglos to the heavens. With his purpose and divinity reinstated, he dedicates his time to guiding Morwen.

Morality & Philosophy

Wolfbright values truth and integrity in humans, and believes their egos are a source of evil. Although he is a healer, he is known to be ruthless and blunt, reflecting the inner turmoil of those who seek his guidance. He has both a rational side and an intuitive, poetic side, a balance which he expects from his devotees. He has a very intimate relationship with death, one which is very conflicting, as he finds it both immersive yet devastating,
