Malum Tenebris is a famous Scientist and owner of a pharmaceutical company. He is related to Vlad the Impaler and is worshipped and treated like a king in his area because of it. Malum has a rivalry towards Vladimir Legendere, Ronnie's dad as he is the king of all vampires and Malum wants to be better and more powerful than him. He is Shadow's abusive father and Eclipse's negligent father. One reason why Malum neglected Eclipse is that she has orange eyes. His family tradition is that a person with Red eyes is a stronger relative of Dracula, which is why his brother, Moarte, was also neglected by his parents.

Malum was the son of Alexandru and Estella Tenebris. He also had a brother, Moarte, who was the scapegoat while Malum was the golden child. One day, Malum killed his parents and brother so that way he would inherit everything. While visiting Shakoshina, Malum ran into Fialovy, who had a crush on him. Malum returned her feelings and they started dating. Malum made Fialovy drop out of high school so they could get eloped and then got Fialovy pregnant.

A part of him knew he wouldn't be strong enough to reach that goal and would pressure it on his son, Shadow. He had a theory that half-blood vampires are stronger because they don't have as many weaknesses as purebloods. He conducted research comparing regular humans and vampires and their strengths and weaknesses. He would write reports about Shadow and his comparison to a pureblood.

He would also bribe women into having sex with him so he would give them a raise, promotion, and threaten to fire them if they didn't have sex with him. He was also a drug dealer so it's not unusual for him to have sex with clients in exchange for drugs.
- He only cares about himself and his reputation. Whenever Shadow does something he doesn't like Malum feels embarrassed. Malum believes he is smarter than everyone and will often not listen to the other scientist.
- Malum is jealous of Vladimir Legendere. He wants to be in his place instead.
