Government

Harken is watched over by the resident Baron, Jonn Stockmer, who is responsible for overseeing justice, defense, and the laws of the entire Barony. He appoints village elders which help to manage the numerous surrounding settlements which make up Harkenwald.

Defences

The town is surrounding by sturdy timber walls which help to protect its denizens from the many creatures that roam the surrounding woods and hills. Harken itself has around 35 soldiers which help protect settlement, and the ranks can swell upwards of 250 when the surrounding settlements are called for action.

Industry & Trade

Harken represents the central point of trade for the entire Barony. As such, much of the resources of the land can be found here, limited though they may be. A few business are available which cater to travelers and traders which travers Harkenwald to distribute goods and services.   Silver Nail  - a respected taphouse within town which caters to all whom enter through its doors. An opportunistic half-orc woman named Krutha owns and operates the establishment.   Nonnie's Place - a quant place with a kitchen, common room, and places to sleep for wary travelers. While not a proper inn, it's the closest thing that one will find out this far north. The inn is run by a halfling woman named Nonnie Farwhere, known by the locals as Aunti Nonnie, she is a gossip and busy body, making the most delightful pastries.    Harken Trading Station - the largest mercantile shop within the town sells the most mundane of items one might seek. It is run by a short human fellow named Rennis.   Tower of Green Flame - a mysterious, green stoned tower rises above the town, now thought abandoned by its former owner. It was thought to have been built by an ancient archmage who departed this world to explore other planes. Most people avoid it, thinking it cursed or laced with magic traps. The few brave enough to enter inside, have either gone missing entirely or return reporting the place empty and uninhabited except the common beast who now call it home.
