Tanganyika Lakes People

First Tanganyika Lakes People

The First Tanganyika Lakes people is an aggregate group comprised by the ancestors of the traditional cultures of the great lakes of the Tanganyika region. Two cultures that emerged in this group that exist today are the Wahadzabe and the Sandawe. Tanganyika Lakes clans were notoriously isolationist and have languages and cultural practices that diverged from one another more than ten thousand years ago. As a result, we prefer the descriptive label "Tanganyika Lakes people" over any collective label that might create the simplistic perception of a single, unified culture.

Notice

The Book of Turnings is a worldbuilding exercise intended to inspire and empower people to explore mythology and stories that span the many millennia of prehistory. However, the story of the First Tanganyika Lakes people is theirs and only theirs to tell. This article has been included here to give respect to the place of this truly ancient culture in the timeline of human existence. However, out of respect for these indigenous people, and in somber acknowledgment of the genocide committed against them, we will end this article here. Please do not create stories about any indigenous culture unless you have an authentic connection to their community.   More information:
