The weapons created at the Forges of Gjerde are known at some of the best in all of Tunoda. The forges themselves are known to restrict acces to those who can best the The Trail of Trials. Though the trial tests purity of heart, it is not proofed against someone changing their motives. For those who encounter some trouble during their live, their Gjerde privileges may appear as a solution if finances are involved. Collecting custom made weapons and reselling them to smugglers who arrange further transportation to either the black market or faraway continents where wars are raging, is a fast way to gain sometimes much needed coin. Smuggling weapons is considered illegal.
The thieves guild in Ecton is involved in many parts of the black market. Most Gjerde weapons that leave Tunoda for other continents are either physically passed through Ecton or were at one point in the hands of a member of the Ecton thieves guild.
Apart from smuggling weapons actually forged in Gjerde, there is also a market in replicating the weapons. If blueprints, a forge and Aeroresin are available, amateur smiths are able to create lesser quality versions of true Gjerde forged items. Wrongly handling aeroresin however, poses very real dangers to those handling the material. Depending on the level of falsification, only trained Gjerde smiths can distinguish the true from the false.

Acces to well hidden transportation pathways and a wide network of trustworthy smugglers and customers are a requisite for those who wish to succeed in this line of work. Since it is often not entirely possible to perform this work without finding some trouble, possession of a weapon and the skill to wield it are a strong advantage.

Payment & Reimbursement

The payment for weapons forged in Gjerde is high. Black market sales are known to be triple the original price paid in Gjerde. The dangers that the work presents mean that most nobody would be interested in this work if the pay was not there to match the risk.
