Subject 1

Subject 1 is a member of the alien race referred to as Jiggs. It was captured by an exploration team by luring it with a food packet into a trap. It has been taken back to the TSS Geisel for study. It appears to be a young Jigg, not being as large as some of the others who have been observed. It has not needed water but has become agitated whenever meat is brought near it, including humans now that its hunger level has risen. Upon being fed it returned to being passive. About a week into its capture, it bit a scientist who got a bit too close while attempting to feed it. The scientist was immediately rushed to the medical ward for testing and healing, however, the bite could not be healed. The scientist did get an infection, however, it was determined that it did not originate from the beast and was able to be treated with antibiotics. Using subject 1, the team has learned that the species has incredible healing capabilities and can communicate in some way (since they used it to lure subject 2). Most of what has been learned about the species still comes from observation of those on the ship, however, they almost always kill at least one member of the exploration teams somewhere on the ship where one has not eaten, leaving subject 1 as the safest way to learn. Subject 1 has caused a rift on the ship with many people wishing to learn more about what they are up against and other wanting to remain as far away from it as possible.
