Gin-Ya

The Empire of Gin-Ya is the westernmost state on the continent of Cispara, and has one of the largest territories. Their land, although very hilly and mountainous is fertile and highly arable, which coincides with a largely agrarian society. Most of its citizens speak Katu, a language entirely unrelated to the other languages to the east.

The country is lead by a hereditary absolute monarch, with the position currently occupied by Empress Iyari of Gin-Ya II. The capital city is Atl-Xue, a thriving metropolis rivalling the canton cities of the empire. Gin-Yanese relationships with the empire have become strained since the Empress's withdrawal from a treaty which would cement her country's safety and independence in exchange for her conversion to the Church of Ascension.

In terms of raw power, the mages of Gin-Ya are not particularly impressive as a collective. However that is not to say that the country is weak by any means, or that the Gin-Yanese are not capable of great magics. It just so happens that the magic they use on the battlefield is subtle, preferring to augment their rigourously trained strikes with magical enhancement rather than call down lightning. Otherwise most archmages in Gin-Ya would be more concerned with the matter of curses, blessings, and natural spells than producing the next great weapon. It has been said that if they ever decided to turn their pretty words of fire upon their enemies, few would stand a chance.

Gin-Ya is also known for its long cultural history. They claim to be one of the oldest peoples on Cispara, and there is good reason to believe it. There are countless ancient structures carved out of the mountains, housing secrets scholars could only dream to know of. This knowledge of stonework is not lost however, and contemporary Gin-Yanese continue to produce marvels of carved stone. It is tradition, that all of their temples be carved from a single rock. In more recent times, with the growth of numerous urban centers that has shifted to meaning that all the stone must be sourced from the mountain, rather than still be the mountain.
