Erannel
The River Erannel is the largest river in the empire. It flows through several large cities including Sorenel. It, along with the rivers which feed into it, provide water for the majority of the empire. Before the advent of the locomotive, it provided essential transport through the realm. While its importance in that regard has lessened, it is still used frequently for the transport of goods.
Geography
The Erannel springs in the southern Yeritas Mountainrange, and passes through the entirety of the kingdom, mouthing in Anore. It is rapid, with strong currents in the south when it is young, though by the time it reaches the Canton of Corton, it has calmed down and snakes its way through the landscape.
From Corton onwards the more extreme turns of the river have been corrected through channeling, allowing for smoother travel along its waters. It passes Geruth and several smaller settlements before arriving in Sorenel.
The importance of the river for travel has drastically decreased since the inception of the locomotive and the imperial rail network. However the Erannel is still used for a slower, yet more affordable alternative to the rail.

Fauna & Flora
The Erannel provides large numbers of wildlife with the essential ingredients for life. Salmon are an especially common sight in its upper stretches, which predators feast upon. In the cities and canal areas however wildlife is rare, only the migrating salmon can be seen teeming in the waters.
