Ark

Where humankind is supposed to restart from, there are multiple around the world.

Purpose / Function

The project was a simple one, with the world's impending doom and known that the world was going to end as they knew it. Governments of the world led a mass effort to collect and store as much human DNA as they could, going from the brightest to the most isolated for genetic diversity. For the normal person, they were not given all the information besides a robot war.
The whole use of an ark was to be built as far as they could, being put into golden locations that would give the new people the best chance. All of these were guesses and it would be the facility itself the final agreement on whether the location was suitable. A few adults would be born to see if the area is livable, only known when they returned, time would be given before more people would be made at a younger age to "raise" into the new world. Once the number is stable for a new population then only the Ark would be a living space till the population is no longer able to access it due to the biometric cues.
The living area gives access to information to help deal with survival and even some information of the old world, a way to start growing plants with a seed bank for experimentation on the best suited. The lowest made population that can live inside is limited to 100, with as high as 500 but this is to include two generations before the need to move out. The hope was that populations close to one another would join together to make this start number larger but that wasn't always ensured only hoped.
Once its purpose is done then it was to seal up to avoid theft or raiding when the knowledge of the Arks would be lost to time. They could be reactivated later in time by outside influence, such as the ones that designed them to recreate populations as they wished. Some programming was in place to attempt to scan areas to see if life was suitable or gone, many arks would attempt to restart life multiple times.
