Session 47: Appleholm, Home of the Apple Tree Dragon
General Summary
30th - 32nd day of Summer
When evening fell over Ignis, everyone continued their days and tended to their own activities. Axel remained with Anton, comforting him and was mildly horrified when Anton phased in and out during his sleep. Zilla spent the night helping under the Dream Tree with Ginny. Gore left Lillith for the evening, and headed for Estorra to sleep in his basement. Beau continued to enjoy a quiet evening in his attic. Caz left his sister's room a little frustrated and headed to find Rosalia to let the knight know that she would be the new head of the Seven, before spending his entire night and evening tinkering away at Bennie's forge.
When morning followed, and the humidity stirred everyone awake, they agreed to gather at the Dream Tree. There, they discussed where they would like to head next, what their next adventure would be. The group agreed that Swetway would be their course of action, to see what the forest might offer. So Beau reached out to Lilly as she'd been to the forest before. The young ranger was eager to come along! With Anton's ability to view and teleport across the worlds, the Apex Flame quickly found themselves in the goblin cave to the North. There, Caz was sure to make the goblins aware of the death of their goblin king, Darkpaw.
And so, the group ventured into the Sweetway Forest, where they would fight these giant were-skunks known as aniwye. In doing so, they saved a small gnome who showed them the finest pool house in all of Ignis, a beautiful cavernous sauna hidden beneath a tree with warm water, streams that poured through the roof, and and old and powerful magic. There they gave the pool stories through its magic, and it did the same in return. The pool gave Beau a story of what unfolded in Sweetway when the corruption split the continent, and Beau gave it a day from his past in return. Gore witnessed a story in which a woman entered the woods, a crescent moon on her forehead, and beautiful long brown hair that was beginning to silver. Axel received a story about a cherry blossom Dragon soaring over Sweet Way Forest, and in turn gave it the story of Calmar, and their great fight. Caz asked for a story about his family and watched as his mother visited a village in the forest, dancing and dining with its people. Zilla and Ginny remained in the main pool and some spent time together too.
When the group finally left the peaceful sauna, they found themselves underneath a large apple tree. They came to learn this apple tree was at the centre of Appleholm, the quaintest of villages run by Thawn Leah Shooperry. They also learnt the apple tree was not an apple tree at all, but a Gargantuan Apple Tree Dragon called Sagarra. Of course they met Sagarra's young child, Goldie who is in need of a new home. The the village would be full of markets, and kind people, or quests such as returning some stolen flowers from the garden. At the market, people got potions, Vesper Honey, a magical coat, flowers (which Valerian gave to Lillith), and apple treats!
Gore initiated the hunt for the bandits. He headed that way, trekking through woods and found a patrol post in a tree. He'd intended to kill the man protecting it but the bandit was surprisingly witty and flirty. The group would learn his nickname it Skit when Valerian dragged him into the village. Together, and with Skit's help, they would infiltrate the camp, beat the shit out of some bandits, and take the many items that they had stolen, Gore had sliced a orc's head in half, Axel used a new spell to shatter a hole in the wall, Zilla transformed to absolutely terrify the bandits, Anton sent forcefulls of energy into bandits, sending them back into pits, and Caz had sliced a chair in twain when it was thrown at him. The party had also learnt that some of them worked for someone named Drano, and some, including Skit, worked for Lucky and were here due to Zilla's request. Anton and Michael returned the Jade vine flower, Anton being allowed to keep one which he teleported away and gave one to Deloris.
From there, Zilla and Caz headed to investigate Zilla's inquiry about a boy who got away from the branders, and they did indeed meet him-Hespin was his name, and the young boy was glad to meet them. Finally, they all rested for the night, at a very hospitable gnomes house, who had bunk beds, bean bags and a hammock. In the night, Beau and Caz bumped into each other patrolling the house, and they returned to their sleeping friends, Beau made an off handed comment about Ginny and Zilla holding hand, teasing that they were gross before sleeping. Valerian and Axel had lept outside and on the roof...
When morning fell over the village, they headed for Sagarra, where the great dragon asked for their help with Grimnoshtadrano, the Endless- The ancient green dragon who took enjoyment in terrorising the village. And so, they readied to teleport to the Dragon Peaks.
Missions/Quests Completed
- Bandits had stolen all the Jade Vine from the floral gardens. Please find them!
