Summary
3rd day of Winter - 4th day of Winter
Zilla sits patiently at a booth, a glass in front of him as the cool breeze of Winter blows through the front door. Through the entrance of the Last Light, an 8'1" figure hunches in, leaning on his staff. Valeez Darkpaw, a gnoll lined with strange accessories slides in across from Zilla. Before they have the chance to make much conversation, their attention is caught by a young man jogging down the stairs: Anton. Few words are exchanged as this curious man with dazzling eyes slides in besides Zilla. Dru, the drow who was sat at the bar is pointed towards the table people are meeting at. Reluctantly, she approaches and leans on the wall by the booth. Then enters Beau, hands in pockets. He's welcomed warmly by the barmaid, and slides in besides Anton. No one decides to sit besides the massive gnoll, until Caz and Axel step in. As they enter, Caz holds the door open for his tabaxi friend with a smile. There are a few moments of waiting before another giant man steps through, with armour and animalistic features. The barmaid almost drops her plate as her eyes fall on the bestial person who calls himself Gore. After a round of drinks and introductions, the Barkeep, Elias Quill, welcomes the group to Estorra. He humbly requests some help to find a missing person from town. The man the party would learn was named Jonathan had been sent to go retrieve an item, a gem known as an Ingolan. Jonathan was a single father, and his nine year old daughter had expected him home within two days. It's been seven days. So, with some convincing and communication, the eight of them head to the South Coast, about six hours through the Fareway Forest
They arrive at the beach, and individually investigate the scene as a row boat rolls up and down the shore. Darkpaw communicates with the coruscations, Beau finds half a person's remains, and Dru discovers blood. Axel has a quick thought that if the water was deadly, he could defer or kill whatever was in there with his amps. So, he opens his brief case, pulls them out and sends a blast of thunder into the ocean. There's a single moment of silence before a tentacle splashes from the water and drags what is left of the corpse into the ocean. The party are quick to notice the gem that the kraken has wrapped in one of its tentacles. They also become quickly aware of the black that's tainted the creatures skin. As a team, the party absolutely destroyed the kraken, with a stun from the monk, an odd climb up the creature from Caz, and a Critical blow with his sniper from Beau. The stone was retrieved and the body was burnt after the group heard applause and celebration from the tree line. Jumping from a tree branch, is a beautiful and dark Genasi named Ginny. Behind her, a half elf with fluffy white hair, follows, his hands in pockets, a soft smile on his lips. They confess that they had followed the group, to make sure they survived and didn't make off with the gem. Between the end of the parties fight and the next morning, the gnoll searches the town for John's spirit to help him in the after life, offer to express words to his daughter. He in turn replies with
"No, she doesn't need to know ghosts are real, it would only scare her".
Darkpaw also sees Tooth and the rest of the gnoll encampment outside to make requests and conversation. Anton researches information about the kraken with Deloris, the sweet librarian in the library. Zilla chows down some more pie. Beau is given an assortment of sweet goods. Axel reads some books with Caz's help before sleeping under the starry expanse of the night, lights flickering in the darkness of the town below. Meanwhile, Dru meditates on the wooden floor. Gore elects to sleep outside by the lake he admired the cleanness of. The following morning, Caz and Axel request to play at The Last Light, and find themselves in their performers outfit. The morning sun rises over the town and Elias begins to gather people outside, to the outstanding rock like monolith outside of The Last Light. A few of the village people begin to gather, as if they knew something would be happening. Elias raises the Ingolan crystal to the giant monolith structure that the party would learn are Waystones. And a s urge of magic overwhelms the space, as the crystal glows a violent green, that flows through the crack in the monolith before finding its place, floating in the hole in the rock. Elias would explain the history of these stones to the party in particular, guiding them into the tavern. They are ancient stones, used to connect the lands when there was not war. And about thirty years into the war, someone made it their mission to cut off the travel across land, scattering the stones that they could not destroy. He hopes to find these gems, and make a home for those escaping the rage of war from any continent. The party have discussion, consider their options and decide they will seek out the stones that Elias knows the location of. - One is in the mountains to the North, apparently people have been lured in to try to purchase the rare crystal, but have not been leaving whatever civilization has the gem. - Another is in the Citadel, a place of study and lore - Another is in the Elven capital to the South of the continent, Liberia. - Another is being kept in the horde of greedy and naïve red dragon. The party finish up some errands, gather some gear, meeting some loveable NPC such as Traxim Togglebatch, the owner of Gitz n' Goods, Dhomdur and his assistant at The Smithing Duos, and Pearl, hanging from a monkey bar in her alchemy store. Then, each party splits into the woods, leaving the quaint village of Estorra.
