Tempest Traits

Your tempest characters skills have been refined and honed since birth, and come naturally to all Tempest alike.
Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence score increases by 2.
Age. The Tempest ageing cycle goes beyond the physical growth of Humans to allow for their encompassing of worldly experience - but their attunement with the plane of air sacrifices approximately 50 years of life. A Tempest will reach adulthood around the age of 80 and can live to be 700 years old - not dissimilar from Elves.
Alignment. The Tempest love freedom, like the air with which makes up the material plane they yearn to explore and experience the many wonders of life - no matter where that may take them. Although Tempest are more often good then not, some are known to achieve that yearned freedom through efforts shunned by more... straight-laced characters.
Size. Tempest, like the Elven, grow anywhere between under 5 to over six feet in height. The main difference between themselves and their pointy-eared brethren are that Tempest are generally bulkier then the common elf - but when stood next to the hefty Dwarven folk still appear slender in size.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision. Your Elvish ancestry provides you with the vision to discern the darkest of blizzards in the black of night, and provides you with 60 feet of vision as if you were in bright light and in all darkness as if you were in dim light. You cannot discern colours in darkness, only different shades of grey.
Eye of the Storm. Your attunement with the living breath of all beings around you gives you proficiency in the Nature skill.
Seer of Coming Winds. Your connection to the plane of air has otherworldly influences on your physical form. With the changing of weathers and climates, your hair will similarly undergo change as it aligns its features to that of the atmosphere, allowing insight to the comings storms and blizzards up to hours before they hit.
Born of Thunder. The chaotic energies of the plane of air have coursed through your veins since you first drew breath. In your bodies exposure to the harsh environment it has adapted to have a permanent resistance to lightning damage - no matter the source.
Languages. You can read, speak and write Squall (squ-aw-ll), Elvish and Common. Most likely due to the nature of its predecessor Elvish, Squall has a tendency to be stereo-typically mistaken for Elvish. Both languages share subtle intonations and intricate grammatical structuring - but Squall, at least to beings Elvish in nature, vastly differs from Elvish in the way that its influenced by Auran, and contains a relaxed and breathy deliverance.
The Triad of Tempest. Different levels of synergy exists within the Tempest race. Some will dabble in the insights attuning to the plane of air provides whilst others embrace its gifts wholeheartedly. These varying levels of elemental attunement have divided the Tempest into three separate stages of being - the The State of Stratocumulus, Nimbostratus and Cirrocumulus. The origin of these titles come from the different formations of clouds within the firmament.

The State of Stratocumulus

As one associated with the State of Stratocumulus, you are acquainted with the forces making up the plane of air and are welcoming of its existence, seemingly stepping off of the very air itself with both efficiency and haste. Whilst you restrict the air's influences to the space purely outside of your form, this does not limit your capabilities compared to the other states of being. Those of the State of Stratocumulus are the most common within the realms of Trinity, however this does not mean they number many - for the Tempest themselves are a race rare and few within the confines of the material plane. Tempest of this state are usually of darker greys in skin tone, and their eyes are closer in colour to that of the clouds themselves - a direct contrast to the stormy-eyed State of Cirrocumulus.
Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 1.
Way of the Wind. You gain proficiency with Daggers, Rapiers and Scimitars.

The State of Nimbostratus

He who lives in the state of Nimbostratus has experienced the powers of air both in and out of their physical form. Their acceptance of the very air's flow through their blood and bones has provided enhanced abilities when compared to that of the Stratocumulus state. This increased embrace of the raw elemental essence has lightened the very feet with which you walk... and made the blows with which you exchange all the more powerful in return. Tempests of this enhanced state often display eyes of a darker, more deeper blue then that of the Stratocumulus State, a close resemblance of the furious downpours that coalesce within the rising storm.
Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 1.
The Storms Deliverance. You gain proficiency with Quarterstaffs, Battleaxes and Longswords.

The State of Cirrocumulus

Whilst the states of the Triad are all equal in terms of standing within the ranks of the Tempest, there is something special about meeting members who stand among the State of Cirrocumulus first hand. The skies seem to crack with every blow, every step, that these beings take - almost seemingly as if they, themselves, are an embodiment of the storm. Such power is only achieved through a complete attunement within the plane of air itself, and can only be achieved when all matters of existence - that is, the body, mind and spirit, are synced as one. It is purely their connection with the world around them that gives off their empowering sense of threat to any who would dare stand against them - but in reality, they are as equal in strength to any member of the Triad. Members who walk the path of the Cirrocumulus display a physical sign of their synergy within the plane as a constant haze covers the eyes of all who exist within this state, yet, their vision could be considered better then most.
Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 1.
Lightning's Blade. You gain proficiency in using Great-swords, Great-axes and Heavy Crossbows.
