This augmentation system looks like a cybernetic spinal column, even more so since it is attached to humanoids up the center of their backs (non-humanoids tend to attach this item more like a belt or sash). While wearing this augmentation, your Strength score changes to a score granted by its tier. If your Strength is already equal to or greater than the augmentation's score, the item has no effect on you.
Five tiers of this augmentation exist, developed by different organizations and as such have different appearances and rarities. They were not intended for public use but some always manage to find their way into black markets.
