Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Humanity is distributed around parts of Galactic Coalition space as well as the Independent systems. Arriving in the galaxy as part of a migrant fleet of refugees, a notable portion of the human race maintains this spacefaring/nomadic lifestyle, sticking to small mobile fleets or developing space stations in high traffic areas. Other have chose to migrate planetside and human exclaves can now be found on numerous worlds.

History

Humanity is a relative newcomer to the galaxy with the entrance of their motley flotilla of migrant ships appearing from within a transient Tear in the Horth Atell system on the edge of Coalition space only 80 years ago. The human refugees claimed to be fleeing enslavement as specimens in a planetoid-sized experiment run by a mysterious race of Overseers, hypothesized by some scholars to be the The Order of Kine.   Expeditions through Horth Atell's known Tears were unable to trace a route to the planetoid the refugees had mentioned, but the human species appeared rattled by whatever circumstances they had been through. It is presumed that whatever Tear they had entered through has since collapsed, preventing further investigation of their former situation.   Humans can be quite clever and possess knowledge of technology that differs greatly from that used in the different regions of the known galaxy, however their knowledge about their own past is incredibly hazy with differing legends about a homeworld named Earth. Scholars are are unsure about how much of humanity's collective memory and history is accurate, if any, and how much is just part of the Overseers' simulation that they claimed to be trapped in.   Despite the dwindling supply of unclaimed, viable colony targets, the Coalition managed to negotiate on behalf of the human flotilla and secure several settlement sites for them. Human Exclaves were set up on the Coalition worlds of Cirrus and New Koreth as well as the Independent worlds of Tria, Pwak, and Soiel where the refugees continue to slowly rebuild their societies and integrate into the wider galactic community. Certain segments of the refugee population have continued to remain as spacefarers, either in small nomadic fleets or by setting up space stations in high traffic systems.   Humans will often congregate in groups that share one or more common traits, whether that be ethnic background, language, religious identity, political persuasion, hobby, profession, or anything really. Humans are among the species with the most diversity in the galaxy for this reason and clusters of human society can be found in many places that are united by a common, often unusual, cause. Some examples include Sun Studio Orbital, a human space station with a devotion and reverence to Elvis: The King, a highly influential and mystical figure from humanity's past; the Mouseketeers, an order of white glove wearing researchers who readily welcome the alien races which resemble anthropomorphic animals into their midst and who believe that fairies are the key to the next stage of interstellar travel; the British: an culture bound together by an excessively polite, formal speech patterns, a general distaste for dentistry, a dry wit, and an odd desire to have other species learn their native language rather than branch out linguistically themselves.   Humans have a relatively neutral reputation with most factions in the galaxy.
