Pebble Cove Saved from Merrow

Military action

The group travel to Pebble Cover where they deal with a nest of Merrow that were terrorising the villagers

Frostburn company arrive in Pebble Cove and find that the villagers are too scared of the Merrow to venture out to fish.  The village Mayor, Kipler, fills them in on a bit more of the detail of the attacks.  He also provides them with the location of a cave that used to be sealed with a large stone, but now stands open.
The party set out to investigate, guided by one of the villagers.  On reaching the cave, they find a large swarm of Giant Crabs nearby.  Though they try to sneak past the animals, they fail and are forced to kill most them.   Moving into the cave, they find a large pool of water blocking the way, so they drink the water-breathing potions and dive in.  Moving through the submerged tunnels, they are set on by a group of Merrow.  Fortunately the party is equipped to fight underwater and most of the creatures are rapidly dealt with.  One manages to escape and the party set out in pursuit.   The creature leaves the pool and enters a dry cave on the far side.  There is it joined by a large group of it's brethren including one particularly big and powerful.   Dass unleashes a blast of pure force that stuns several of them, and Virris follows up with a fireball in a devastating combination.  With Ash stabbing his way through the survivors, this second battle is swiftly concluded and the party can finally take a good look around the cave.  In one corner is an altar dedicated to Demogorgon, the demon that corrupted the original Merrow, and an evil looking book.  Ash recovers the spear the largest of the Merrow had been using, and also finds what could be an enchanted ring.   Realising that leaving the altar intact would not be a good plan, Virris smashes it with a giant fist made of pure force.  The resulting release of energy causes the cave complex to start collapsing.    While Dass makes his way straight to the exit, Ash and Virris explore some of the side passages.  They find a suit of glowing plate armour and a chest of coins.  With the cave collapsing around them, the pair stuff the pieces of plate armour into their bag of holding and Ash grabs the chest.  Both of them are hit by falling rocks on the way out, but manage to escape without any major injuries just before the complex completely caves in. The party take a bit of a breather before starting to work out what to do with the loot.
Returning to Pebble Cove, the party are greeted by an excited throng of villager who had felt the tremor from the cave collapse. Hearing of the destruction of the Merrow, they decide to throw a feast in the party's honour.   A tale of this adventure was later known as Monsters from the Deep
