Spell Journal

This small book was found in the belongings of a deceased student of the Kersar Academy of Magical Arts. Nearly all of its pages are filled with notes on classes and spells, often accompanied by rough sketches and tiny diagrams. The journal has been added to the shelves of the Academy's library and can easily be found there.

History

Spell journals are a common way for magic students to keep track of information learned in classes or from mages. Many students will also use them to record details about their own magic and the ways in which it works. The student who owned this particular journal seems to have purchased it sometime during their second year at the Academy and started writing in it immediately after. No other journals were found in the student's belongings, suggesting this was the first one they kept.
Over the next few months, the owner of the journal took careful notes on several of their classes, most notably History of Celestials and Arcane Magic Technique. A few opinions slip through into the writing, but not enough to grasp a full picture of the writer's personality. Judging by the notes on classes that were taken, they appear to have been primarily a user of Arcane magic, with a keen interest in magical history, especially the historical basis of Eternals, Celestials, and their associated myths.

During the beginning of the student's third year, the journal is cut off after a page of notes on a magic exhaustion class. This was likely the last class the journal's owner attended, as they died shortly after in an accident while traveling. The journal was found in their belongings when the family came to collect them and the Academy was allowed to keep it, under the condition that no details about the student were to be given to those who read the book. Because of the family's request, it is unknown who the owner of the journal was, how old they were, or even when they died, leaving their identity a perfect mystery.

Significance

Although some of the notes represented in the journal are slightly outdated since more is known, most of the information inside can still be useful. The student who owned and wrote the journal had a strong grasp of the subjects and was good at condensing them into information that could be easily remembered later. Furthermore, the hint of wit woven into the entries reminds readers that this was the possession of a former student whose life was tragically stolen, encouraging them to enjoy life to its fullest.
