NovelEmber 2024

I have never done NaNoWriMo before, nor have I ever attempted to fully complete a specific project in such a short time span (at least not since 2021 when I wrote a novella in two months). But I've decided that since World Anvil is hosting NovelEmber and it seems more open-ended and welcoming, I'll give it a try.
My goals for this month are honestly pretty small. I've had the basic plans for a novella for a few years but haven't had the motivation or desire to actually write it. I also have an article I want to write in preparation for WorldEmber. So here are my official plans for this NovelEmber!

1. Fully start and finish the novella "Pitical's Squadron", which follows members of The CKGs and leads up to the events of the actual first book in the Tread of Darkness. I have a basic plot (i.e. I know how it starts, I know things that have to happen, I have a few scenes planned, and I know how it ends) and I have my characters. Finishing the CKGs article was a big thing on my list before I got to November because the novella is about them and I wanted all my information ready.
2. Write an article about Celestials! I have one on Eternals, and Celestials are just a step up. I actually have more concrete information about Celestials than Eternals in general. I'm planning to write this article in the same format and voice as the Eternals article, which will be pretty fun. I want this article written before December because my goal for WorldEmber is to focus on Celestials. I've always been really good at writing characters, so I'm pretty confident in this goal. More on WorldEmber later this month!

I have no idea how this is going to go. I've tried before to write long projects and it hasn't worked (I'm stuck on chapter 7 of my actual book, for crying out loud). I'm really hoping that I'll be able to do it this time and I would greatly appreciate advice, encouragement, and suggestions on how to show people my work.
Which brings me to my next point. I...do not have access to Manuscripts. I won't get into why upgrading my membership is not an option right now, but I can't use them. So instead, I will be writing my novella on Google Docs. Which means no one will be able to read it. Unless I eventually copy the entire finished novella into a Prose template. I think that would be very boring to scroll through. Um, some advice would be appreciated.
Anyway, those are my goals for the month! I'm feeling pretty excited! I'll let you know if I figure out a way to share the novella, and I look forward to seeing what everyone manages to write!
