Binthru, The Weave

Ancient One

Binthru exists as one of the three primordial beings that make up the Ancient Triad. As such their power is beyond compare with their domain being over connections and magic. Perhaps it is less accurate to say that they rule over magic than it is to say that they are magic. Not a manifestation of it. All of magic is simply trying to coax Binthru's essence into producing a desired affect.    Binthru along with the rest of the Ancient Triad serve as pillars of existence. Binthru's role was that of the connective tissue that held the pieces of reality together. They are the gravity that holds the world in it's shape and the bonds that unite people's the world over. Not least of all, they are the aether that permeates all things. Magic of every color and creed is, at it's core, an attempt to convince Binthru to act in a way that the caster wants. Wizards do so with careful instruction, bards through emotional direction. Warlocks rely on their powerful connections to beings that have better influence with Binthru. And so on and so forth.    This central role in the fundamental operation of the universe would cause most people to believe that Binthru must be the most worshipped deity in existence. However, due to Binthru's incomprehensible nature, most people do not even know of or recognize Binthru as a distinct being. Much of the world believes that magic is simply an aspect of the world that exists without reason or emotion. Debating the existence of Binthru is a pass time of theologians and scholars for centuries, and despite the plethora of things said on the matter, there has never been any true consensus on the matter. The main points of the debate come down to the capricious nature of magic and whether such things are attributable to a sentient being or some misunderstood aspects of the universe.   While their existence is hotly debated, their name is still used colloquially to represent magic. As such many terms and phrases associated with magical effects use their name. Examples include being "beloved/despised by Binthru" which means that aether is attracted to/avoids the person in question. Whiles those affected by this are well documented, no definitive pattern can be found amongst the afflicted.  Other phrases unrelated to magic exist such as "Binthru has heard you" which can be understood as "No one cares".
