Federation of Frastland
Structure
Kings and Archdukes must pay tribute to the Prime Minister. There are Counts, Barons, Marquises, and lining the federation's borders are territories ruled by Margraves; and they lend fiefdoms to Lords. Frastland is generally a confusing jumble of political systems which are changed constantly, and thus no strong universal government can be imposed upon Frastland.
Public Agenda
Geopolitically, Frastland was, for most of its history, a slipshod assortment of feudal states. And now it remains as such, though it is united under the tenuous guise of a federation - more like a fragile pact - which brokers disputes and evens out relations between all the states beneath the federation's rule. Allegorically, Frastland is depicted as a clutter of rotting old kings and dukes and whatnot ensnared in the grip of a silver-plated net of nominal modernity. Though the federation was intended to drag Frastland into modernity, to adjust into the age of nation-states and industrialism, this only further complicated things, what, with the thousands of landed gentry scrabbling for power. Frastland can be best understood as a non-aggression pact and a collection of government institutions which all nobles must pay a tax for.
It is believed that the federation is actually an extension of the Archduchy of Tragemnorte, and that all states belonging to them are actually ruled like colonies or vassal states in a manner not unlike Nurlinga. Seeing as how much of the federation's funds come from there, this outlandish claim holds weight. It desperately tries to standardize the diverse nature of the many fiefdoms, minting coins and regulating trivial things. Making everything universal, attempting to impose a national identity upon a clutter of nations which hold nothing in common with each other save for a collective sour disdain for the busybody bureaucracy which demands that they change their ways to suit the rest of the world.
Assets
Technically the federation owns very little save for the capital city and absolute tons of federal taxmoney, with which the institutions and ministries are funded, and also the Army of Frastland. Outside of the capital city the occasional edifice belongs to them, things like courts of law and university campuses, and to these buildings a substantial sum of tax money goes to maintaining them. The federation owns numerous airships, cavalry, infantry, thaumaturgists, warbeasts and whatnot, and copious amplitudes of desk workers in their bureaus. Certain factories and foundries are owned by the federation, and practically all the inter-kingdom railway companies are strenuously controlled by them. They have a chokehold on transport and trade which they will do anything to remain attached to.

Currency
Because of the federation's futile attempt at standardization, officially Frastland uses alliterative coin currency, including the septagonal rose-gold Froker, which is worth 100 pentagonal sterling silver Frollans, which is worth 100 triangular nickel Follits.
Bank notes and letters of credit are gradually being introduced by the federation, but most local transactions are used with pre-federation currency. Bartering is still commonly practiced among rural peasants and herdsmen, whereas urbanites tend to use their home state's own coins, of which millions are still in circulation. Ironically, the official coins of the federation only find themselves in use during international trade of which there is plenty, considering Frastland's own geographical position.
