The Gods of Tovenet

This article serves as a dictionary for the deities of Tovenet, present or ancient. In addition, the mythos and research about how the divine function in Tovenet are listed here.

The Divine and Tovenet

Tovenet is not a world ruled by the divine. In fact, the Dieties of Tovenet have no influence over the plane itself, and cannot take form upon any of the physical planes. There are three ways why any would encounter a diety in thier lives. The first, and most common, is encountering or becoming a Priest, Monk, Crusader, or some other form of devout. These devout offer up thier souls to a diety, and are granted power by thier god through thier soul. Importantly, this makes all holy magic not impacted by dead-magic zones. The second is crossing paths with a celestial or fiend of some sort. Minor angels can travel between the physical planes and the plane of thier diety, often being used as messengers. The last is for the very unlucky, all Dieties take up residence in an astral plane, and have a "physical" form within them. Dieties can, however, give visons and other cryptic messages. Within these messages, Dieties often take a humanoid form that suits them.

Dieties, Domains, and Portfolios

Dieties are not born like a biological creature. Instead, they are created from ideas or physical concepts. For example, after the wild magic chaos, a ball of radiance appeared across the sky. Vuranthier, the god of the Sun, was then created at the same time, and given the portfolio of the Sun. Portfolios can be as specific as "that tree over there" to "The entirety of the concept of life." This leads to many portfolios to overlap. One popular theory created by researchers at the Enirith School of the Arcane is that, when portfolios overlap, the more specific portfolio takes presedence. (This may be a good time to remind you that if you plan on creating a Clergy member that most systems do not allow for this granularity, so go with what feels right, and flavor accordingly.)
Domains are classifications created by clergy to define what powers a specific diety can give. These are purly created by residents of Tovenet. (Domains are for use when creating a charecter within a church. Most charecters will only have acess to one domain. Acess to more than one is quite a rare gift from a diety.)

Diety Classification

When scholars are involved, lines are often drawn to help understand what exists. What a better way to use them to describe beings that are beyond comprehension? The following are classifications of gods based upon thier respective powerlevel, and what that means.

21 or higher	Overdiety	Overdieties are beings whom have so much power that they are gods among even gods. This section was created as a placeholder, the concept of dieties exists.
16-20	Greater Diety	Greater Dieties are the most powerful dieties. They often have influence over important and powerful portfolioes. Manari, Arvat, Hishal, and the Primordial Dieties are greater dieties, among others. These names are household, and often are deeply rooted in cultures
11-15	Intermediate Diety	Intermediate Dieties are often sufficently powerful to be of great importance in world affairs, but are often not as earth-shattering as Greater Dieties. Most people know of these dieties, but it is not common knowlage.
5-10	Lesser Dieties	Lesser Dieties hold portfolioes such as clans, regions, and less powerful concepts. These dieties are often less known or less commonly prayed to.
2-5	Demigods	Demigods are just that, half-gods. They often are prophets or powerful leaders. Demigods are the highest tier of deity that can exist on Tovenet. Demigods are often people who gain a portfolio.
0-2	Quasi-deities	Gods who cannot gift others power. They have a portfolio, but do not have domains.
