Acanthus, God of Twilight
The Lord of the Veil and the Harbinger of Secrets, the Twilight Lord Acanthus is the most mysterious and least understood of the Triptych Pantheon gods. Ascribed to the time of twilight, where both Kyrøn and Veo Kres are said to battle each other for the Sky Throne, Acanthus is seen as the watcher of the veil, and is considered to be the deity who controls whether beings from other planes of existence can cross from their home planes into the world of Totalis Terra.
Not often considered either a malevolent or beneficent deity, Acanthus is ascribed to be subtle, manipulative, and prone to flights of fancy and trickery. Usually depicted as an tall male figure with multiple horns and a smirking expression, worship of Acanthus is generally undergone by those who either wish some aspect of greater station or power through trickery, or by those seeking to stave off the worst of the twilight and dark seasons by keeping the veil intact and strong. The symbol of Acanthus is thought to be a planar ward, and it is common to find areas where the veil is considered the weakest to have temples, statues, or glyphs to Acanthus built or inscribed, the latter of which being a circular symbol with the head of a four-horned creature at its center.
Most followers of Acanthus are solitary practitioners, though there is rumor of a secret sect that follows the Twilight God known as the Order of Acanthus. Contrary to the experiences of many other followers of the Tryptich Pantheon Deities however, many independent worshipers of Acanthus claim to have had direct contact or interaction with the god at least once in their lifetime, painting the image of a diety much more involved in humanoid affairs than his other, more aloff counterparts.
The tenets of Acanthus most commonly espoused by worshipers are as follows:
- The Twilight blends all types and kinds together in limitless possibility.
- The rules of humanoids and gods are equally flexible. No true boundaries exist, only those imposed by those who would dismiss your potential.
- Chaos is not to be feared, but instead an opportunity to be exploited.
Some followers of Acanthus dabble in what is called Twilight Magic, a type of arcane force that can manipulate the fabric of reality, such as by changing gravity, chance, or even time.
