Fishham

With every death comes the opportunity for something new to take its place.
Fishham was one of the towns that got hit the hardest by The Devastating Wave of 599. Almost the whole town, along with a majority of its population, got wiped out in the catastrophe. During the work to rebuild the whole coast, Fishham became the main hub of operation and has since became a thriving trading town.

Early History

Fishham was once a small fishing village on the western coast of Tosormi, by the outlet of a river. Its location soon made it the centre point for all the fishing business along the coast, and the village grew into a town with a big regional market.   As the area became more populated, Fishham became the regions capital, with governmental offices and law keeping for the whole region.

The Tsunami and its Aftermath

During the tsunami of 599, a majority of the town was wiped out. There was barely a building left intact. But being a sort of capital, it was to Fishham survivors of smaller villages and towns came to, and when help started arriving from other parts of Tosormi, it was to Fishham they were sent. This meant the town was the first to start getting rebuilt.   During the whole rebuilding of the coastal communities, Fishham functioned as a hub, organizing the work and sending out resources.

Fishham Today

Today, Fishham is a thriving trading town again. It is still the capital of the region, and there is a much larger percentage of people living in the town now than before the tsunami.   Fishing and trading are still the main occupations in the town, although there is now also a large organization for aid work that is based here, as ordinary folk still struggle to recover from the financial backlash of losing all they had.   There is also a big problem with low quality houses that are starting to fall down now, as they were meant to be temporary when they were built after the disaster.

Oh I really like the details about Fishham today, like the fact the housing is starting to fall down because it was meant to be temporary. That really brings the place to life.
