Kylyndaar
From the same militaristic Dragonborn clan as Surina Daardendrian, Kylyndaar was originally known as Kireg Daardendrian, before he was transformed into a topaz dragon on the 6th of 11th Month, 724, to become the fifth (and final) member of the Gem Council. Prior to this, he was a Topaz Dragonborn druid who served as regional director of outposts in the Southern Saravich Mountains. The party first met him when he was just the director of the Dynskrogar adventuring outpost, a backwater location far off from the Academy where generally only indentured adventurers were ever assigned. In that role, he had a very chill and relaxed persona, but was also somewhat distant with any family or friends. But, following the party's adventures there, this location became of high strategic importance with the discovery, stabilization, and utilization of the elemental air rift in the nearby mountains. All this rising in importance has made him more stressed out as of late. To top all that off, now the Academy is essentially leading a nation at war with the Ixlan Republic, with most of his family on the other side, particularly General Felkath Daardendrian, who is a leading figure in the Republic military.
He was himself a student of the academy about 45 years ago, making a name for himself and his party as a student, and gaining some amount of attention from the founder dragons, but he ended up having a lackluster adventuring career following that. At some point in his years working at the academy, he had discovered that one of his ancestors (on the opposite side of the family as Felkath) was a Topaz dragon. When he met with the party and Surina at the sacred grove in Planimrest, he discovered (from Surina's realizations) that he was previously the "prime candidate" to become a druidic Topaz dragon to join Audrarith's Gem Council at some point prior to the upcoming Celestial Equinox, which presumably left him as the "backup candidate" behind Surina. He was fully supportive of Surina's decisions in this regard: if she wants it, he will help her manage with the adjustments, if she doesn't, he will step in and offer himself so as to take the attention off of Surina. And so, after the events of the Gentle Night crew learning about the relationships between the current four gem dragons of this Council and Audrarith teleporting in after the defeat of Griaustithanach, Surina made known her decision to decline to Kireg and Audrarith, and Kireg accepted in her stead. Thus, preparations began over the next week and a half following the solstice, and were accelerated upon the events of early 11th-Month (the start of the Union of Omros and the location of the Temple of the Worlds).
Following his transformation on the 6th of 11th Month, Kylyndaar now has his lair in the lowest portions of the cavernous mountain beside the Torrentha Reservoir, and it is unclear what is responsibilities will be between now and the start of next academic year, when he will run the "ground campus" of the academy as Dean of Natural Studies. He is also currently dating Rhiwa, having grown close during the events around Audrarith's decision to power the Windcrest arcane engine. He fairly quickly gained the nickname "Ky" by the folks who were there during his transformation (Audrarith, Rhiwa, Tilly, and Surina). With no pressing job requirements at that particular time, he accompanied the Gentle Night crew on their mission to kill Alethramach and Veidrorith (to provide healing, utility spells, and an emergency line of communication and transport back to the academy if things went wrong).
