Choose a Class
- Select a class to start of with.
- The Keepers of the Feather starts at level 3.
- You may multiclass if you want to do so, no prerequisites are required.
With multiclassing, you have the option of gaining a level in a new class whenever you advance in level instead of gaining a level in your current class. Doing so lets you mix the abilities of those classes to realize a character concept that might not be reflected in a single class.
▼ Class Overview Rolling for HP
Each time you gain a level, you gain an additional Hit Die based on the class you gain a level in. Roll that die, and add it to your Rolled HP. DnDBeyond adds your Constitution modifier automatically.Choose a background
Your character’s background is a collection of characteristics that represent the place and occupation that were most formative before your character embarked on a life of adventure. Each background includes a brief narrative of what your character’s past might have been like. Alter the details of this narrative however you like. ▼ Ability Score and Backgrounds Choose a background that fits your character. Each character comes with different:- Skill Proficiencies
- Tool Proficiencies
- Origin Feat
- Ability Scores
Many players choose their background last in order to wait out what stats they rolled for their abilities.
Don't forget to fill in your Character Details, Physical Characteristics and Personal Characteristics to help you get an understanding of your character's looks and personality. Please refer to the PHB for a more detailed description to help you pick your background.Choose a species
When you choose your character’s species, you determine whether your character is a human or a member of a fantastical species, such as dragonborn or gnome. The peoples of the D&D multiverse hail from different worlds and include many kinds of sapient life forms. A player character’s species is the set of game traits that an adventurer gains from being one of those life forms. Some species can trace their origin to a single world, plane of existence, or god, while other species first appeared in multiple realms at once. Whatever a species’ genesis, its members have spread across the multiverse and contribute to many different cultures. Please refer to the PHB for detailed descriptions of all available species.Roll for your Ability Scores!
Any time you roll a d20, you add your Ability Score Modifier to your roll. Determine your Ability Scores by Random Generation (a.k.a. Manual/Rolled on DnDBeyond). Roll 4d6 and record the total of the highest three dice. Do this five more times, so you have six numbers. Assign those numbers to your preferred Abilities. We roll our session 0 stats in person.Choose your equipment
Depending on your Species and Background, you can select different options for your starting equipment.Get to know your Character Sheet
