Off to Neverwinter

Jaquette was quite exhausted from all the planar travel and needed to rest for a day or two. Frodrick (the Githyanki) wanted to do some hunting before he set off to the Hight Forrest. Tyrus offered to accompany him. Lucky, Rolen and Anna decided it would be a good opportunity to go to Neverwinter and do some shopping. Jaquette cast Windwalk on the three of them and they flew off to Neverwinter.
The three arrived in Neverwinter in the early evening, just in time for dinner. They found a tavern named the Annoying Bowl Pub and chose to go in and check it out. They were greeted by a large human woman named Chayton who showed them to a table. The party eat a lamb stew (3cp ea) and some ale (4cp ea). Rolen asked for two rooms (5 sp ea/night.) Lucky enjoyed the ale and Chayton brought out a frail elderly man named Darren who is the Brew master. The party asked about some shopping for magical reagents. Chayton told them to go to Bernard street.

Fibble’s Fantastic Familiars

They party came across a small storefront wedged tightly in between 2 other buildings. The small shop had a small sign that said “Fibble’s Fantastic Familiars.” Rolen went in looking for some magical reagents. Fibble, a small elderly man with a white ponytail and broken glasses greeted the party. He walked them around the store pointing out various small creatures in cages and jars. He gave an elaborate story of each of them explaining how they were really fantastical beasts who were polymorphed from dragons, demons, milk maids or were once owned by a hag. Lucky cast detect magic and only saw that one cage in the back of the room, covered with a black cloth had a glow of abjuration magic.
Lucky asked about the 3’ cube covered in the black cloth and Fibble, in a more serious tone, said it was only for powerful adventurers. Lucky asked “how much?” Fibble said only 250gp but told him sternly that it cannot be opened in this store. Rolen asked about a Raven and Fibble said it wasn’t for sale. Anna wasn’t interested in anything.
Fibble suggested that Lucky have some sort of spell prepared to control the monster before they open the crate. The creature from within the box started to mimic whatever Lucky was saying in a mocking way.

The Dragon’s Quill

The party went further down Bernard street and found a shop called the Dragon’s Quill. Inside they found a distinguished Elf named Adamar. Lucky wanted to buy a few spell scrolls and some components. Unfortunately, spell scrolls take some time to prepare but Adamar said he could have a single 3rd level scroll made for him, but it wouldn’t be ready until tomorrow. Lucky asked for the Phantom Steed Spell scroll and also asked for 200gp of Ivory. Lucky also purchased 400gp worth of fine inks and parchment.
Rolen went in and asked for a couple ruby vials. Adamar told him he had 2 for 1,200gp total. Anna said she’d come back tomorrow as Adamar wanted to close up for the evening. The creature in Lucky’s box kept mocking them.

The Oculider

The party headed back to the Annoying Bowl Pub for the evening. After arriving at the pub, Rolen and Anna went directly to their rooms. Rolen spread caltrops inside his room, by the door.
Lucky went into an ally near the pub and cast his tiny hut spell. He then removed the tarp from the box and peered in to see a very interesting creature, an Oculider with a single large eyeball about the size of a melon resting on a large mouth with sharp teeth and 10 spindly legs. He then cast modify memory on the creature to convince it that he and lucky had a great 10-minute conversation and became close friends. Lucky (convinced that he had made a friend) then cast Find Familiar on it to form a telepathic bond with it. That succeeded and two formed a telepathic connection. Lucky gained he ability (at will) to see through the creature and communicate with it telepathically. He sensed that the creature likes to eat dogs and small children and pretty much any small creature it can find. Lucky learned the creature is fragile and not well suited for combat although it can do some damage with it’s eye beam (Fire, Lightning or Acid.) He also learned the creature is fairly good at stealth.

Anna and Rolen

Anna woke up early in the morning and picked Rolen’s door lock. Then she snuck into Rolen’s room, avoiding the caltrops. She saw a chessboard setup next to Rolen’s bed. She closed the door and waited for Rolen to wake up. Rolen unzipped his sleeping bag from the inside and emerged. He turned to Anna and was a bit upset by her presence. Rolen asked why she was there. She accused Rolen of not looking like what he really looks like. Rolen denied the accusation. Anna pointed out the chess table and asked who Rolen was playing with. Rolen challenged Anna to a game of Dragon Chess. Rolen beat Anna at the game very quickly.
Anna accused Rolen of Hiding something. Rolen said “doesn’t everyone?” Anna asked Rolen about his patron. Rolen explained that his deal was more out of necessity and one not easily broken. Anna got close to Rolen suspecting a disguise. She tried to corner him. Rolen cast invisibility on himself but Anna has blind sight and stopped him from running past her. Anna was able to discern that he was disguised but couldn’t see through the disguise. Anna pressed on “What do you actually look like?” Rolen said “release me.” She did and Rolen snapped his fingers and he looked like Tyrus and then left the room.

Lucky and the crate

Lucky woke up early and spent some time trying to free his new friend from its crate. He cast Knock on the lock, but it didn’t open. He then took a Rock to lock but it didn’t break. He stood on top of the create and cast fire bolt at the lock until it was destroyed. A person sleeping at the far end of the alley witnessed this and ran away. Lucky freed the creature and provide it a live rat. Lucky had it hide in the alley as Lucky then went to put on a small concert. Rolen (disguised ad Tyrus) walked up to Lucky and invited him to breakfast.

More shopping

After breakfast, Lucky went to pick up his spell scroll and Rolen set off to find a mercenary guild. Lucky met up with Rolen and Rolen took Lucky to a mercenary guild shack. They were greeted by an older pipe smoking human. Rolen showed his guild badge and asked for some poisons. The man told him of a certain Home of some Drow on Worster street that will sell poisons. He said. “Tell them Paul Sent you.”
Lucky asked Paul “What else you got?” and slipped him 5 gold. Paul asked what he’s looking for. Lucky said, “whatever you have where I can earn some coin.” Lucky introduced himself as “Clover” and demonstrated his fire capability. Paul offered him a contract to burn down a certain home at 123 South Street for 50 gp. Lucky accepted.
Rolen went to the Drow establishment and browsed a very complete poison selection. He then purchased 2 vials of Essence of Ether (300gp ea), 1 dose of Midnight tears (1,500 gp.) and 1 dose of Purple worm poison (2,000 gp.)

Lucky the pyro

Lucky went to 123 South street and picked the back-door lock. He stealthily searched the house and found nobody there. He did find some signs that the house was used within the past week. After a thorough search of the home and finding nothing of any significant value and no people, he set the house ablaze. He cast major image of a medium sized red cloaked necromancer that yelled “Look at me as I set this house on fire. The innocent shall perish within! I hope that they’re in there!” The image laughed manically. Several people witnessed this pyromancer as he vanished in a puff of smoke. Lucky found out from a neighbor that the owner of the home “Johanus” was out of town.
Anna tracked down her sister’s secret establishment.
