Ar'ia City

The Capital of Eastmarch, and The Reach, a massive city with spires of white stone and a massive population. Ar'ia city is known for its immense beauty and its amazing design. The city is placed and laid out in such a way that the streets are all very symmetrical. A central location in the middle of the city is where all roads lead to in a bulls-eye pattern, streets flow out in 'rings' out from the centre. The vast size of the city can be daunting, however the greatly designed masonry allows for easy navigation within the city walls.
A place of true beauty and wonder, Ar'ia, is a rare sight to behold and it's no surprise that it is the Capital of Eastmarch and the Capital City of The Reach . Upon the approach the air itself begins to shimmer and a feeling of comfort washes over it's citizens. A general feeling of happiness and content flows through these well organised stone pathways as carts and people travel through the city. Elven guards in ornate silver armour patrol the streets in an orderly fashion, a sense of security and safety as they pass. It's rumoured that further to the centre of the city, the closer you get to the palace, living clouds and tufts of white deliver goods to various stores and customers. - Cloud City - But this could be because of the gorgeous white pillars of stone, and the marbled streets.

Government

Under direct rule of The Emperor, Ar'ia has a slightly different governmental system than other towns. Everyone within the walls of Ar'ia is considered a direct citizen of the Emperor's City. As such, living in Ar'ia's walls is one of the most coveted locations in all The Reach. Within the cities walls all citizens are considered nobility and have access to incredibly high paying work as well as all kinds of government subsidies and assistance. Most those who are accepted into the walls are already nobility though, as it does cost at minimum twice as much to live within the walls of Ar'ia. However, the protection and treatment within these walls is most definitely worth it. Having access to higher learning, the Grand Arcane University and a fantastic aray of goods and services. Most general services are paid for by the Emperor himself and as such being a Citizen of the Emporor's City allows you to take advantage of fantastic services that you rarely have to pay for.

Defences

This is Emperor Ar'iani's home, and as a result of this, a very large military presence of skilled Elven and Human guards ordained in silver armour of an ornate design. The Castle itself is said to have it's own secret defences as well. The only place you will find more troops is at the war-front itself. Though the sense is not overbearing or opressive, it is a feeling of safety and security here in Ar'ia.

Infrastructure

With its large stone walls surrounding the city, Ar'ia has a very large infrastructure to maintain such a high population. Solid stone streets with grates on the edges that lead down into a vast sewer system underneath. A design pattern of the streets is an engineering marvel in itself, as most areas seem to be very symmetrical in design and all the main roads come to a central location in a vast market square courtyard. The large streets lined with buildings of stone, 5 main paths leading to the centre, with rings of streets connecting them. On the outskirts of town, awaiting expansion is a vast shanty-town, a bit of an eye-sore on the edges of town, however this area is so coveted that it can't be helped. Every few years the walls are extended out and new buildings are erected to accommodate the newcomers and remove the Shanty-village outside the gates of the Capital City.

Architecture

With white marbled streets and beautiful design the infrastructure within Ar'ia is a wondrous marvel. The city holds 10's of thousands of citizens within its pristine white walls and its streets are all paved with the same beautiful marbled stone. The streets themselves all converge in the centre with rings radiating out from the middle connecting the large main roads. Unlike any other city within The Reach, Ar'ia's construction is an awe-inspiring sight. The streets are organised in such a way that districts are hard to discern, most streets are lined with both residential homes, shops and workshops. Rather than finding wooden structures we find 90% of Ar'ia built with this beautiful white stone.
