The Ancient World
The eldest records that Tor holds are believed to date back merely a few thousand years. They speak of a time in which the environment of Tor was dramatically different than today.
Most records and religions illustrate a period where nine gods walked the earth among the people. In comparison to the Arch Mages of today, the term god may seem inappropriate. At the time they were treated more akin to Kings and Queens. They held their kingdoms and lived among the mortals. They were subject to mortal wants and needs. To modern comprehension the gods were immortal, however many tales report times in which they were slain in war.
The majority of religions have an explanation for how humanity started, yet to one degree or another they conflict. Some stay congruent in some aspects and stray in others, some entirely juxtapose with one another. As to where, religion and science tends to agree that humanity most likely started in four independent locations, those being Plusktone, Western Le'Plor, Tredeth, and Quarenash. Some religions suggest that humanity is a few thousand years old, others suggest longer and others suggest shorter.
However there is one through line congruent with the teachings and records of all gods. The gods were not always gods. They were born mortals like all others and merely achieved immortality through immense power. Records before the banishment did not even refer to the Gods as Gods. Most intepretations translate more directly to 'supreme rulers'. Infact not all the gods even possessed divine or arcane power before the banishment.
