Feirg

The Feirg mountains, or just Feirg, is the mountainous arctic region in northern Quarenash surrounding the lake Staevia. The region is nearly inhospitable for most forms of civilization but between and beneath peaks a few have found refuge. Most notably, the city Mykthal thrives in cradle of the southwestern mountains, a few miles from the gateway city of Alsmog. After the destruction of several vital Aegisis, crippling the use of communication and teleportation magic that many of the people living in Feirg had come to rely on, society in the mountains have become increasingly strained and dangerous.
The single largest mountain in Feirg is Mount Onamus, visible from almost anywhere in the region and the tallest in the realm. Though many claim to have reached the top, no verifiable records of what lies at it's peak have been recorded. This is in in part due to the magical effects its higher altitudes produce upon observation. Although the vague shape of the mountains peak can be seen from afar, a thick clouding fog forms around it when viewed too closely, whether one is climbing it or viewing it through a telescope. Magical viewings of its peak also fail, though produce vague imagery of clouds, basking light, and opulence.
