Anti-Magic

Antimagic is one of the few things that works differently than the vast majority of magics. Whereas all other magical effects are caused by a reaction between arcans, anti-magic works elsewise.
Anti-magic in its purest form is most similar to a sound wave. Anti-magic, like arcans, is everywhere. The effect of dispelling or countering occurs when a high concertation of anti-magic meets with a grouping of bound arcans. Anti-magic effectively breaks the bonds between arcans and prevents reaction between them in high concentrations.
Anti-magic is the reason spells do not bind randomly with no cause. The stable amount of anti-magic that is present in the vast majority of Tor prevents the binding of static arcans.
The removal of anti-magic is effectively what the action of casting a spell does. A mages power is often measured by how effectively they can remove anti-magic in order to create bonds between arcans in efficient ways.
