Firebug Construct

Prerequisites: 3rd Level Construct Crafter, a tiny candle worth at least 5gp

You learn intricate methods for magically creating a special light that takes the form of a flying construct. The fire of the candle you infuse becomes contained inside the creature and serves as the creature's source of life. You determine the firebug's appearance. Some artificers prefer mechanical-looking flying bugs whereas some like winged orbs of light.

The firebug is friendly to you and your companions, and it obeys your commands. See this creature's game statistics in the Firebug stat block, which uses your proficiency bonus (PB) or Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1) in several places. While the firebug is within 120 feet of you, you can communicate with it telepathically. In combat, the firebug construct shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It can only move and use its actions from its stat block.

If you or the firebug dies, it vanishes, leaving a small flame in its space. If the firebug has died within the last hour, you can use tools you are proficient in as an action to revive it, provided you are within 5 feet of the flame and you expend a spell slot of 1st level or higher. The firebug returns to life after 1 minute with all its hit points restored.

Skills: The Firebug Construct adds your Proficiency Bonus to any Dexterity (Stealth) checks.
Damage Immunities: Poison
Condition Immunities: Exhaustion, Poisoned.
Languages: Understands the languages you do but cannot speak.

Uncanny Evasion: The firebug is immune to any effect that forces it to make a saving throw.

Flyby: The firebug’s movement whilst flying does not provoke opportunity attacks.

Dodge: When the firebug takes this action, any attack roll made against it has disadvantage if it can see the attacker, and it makes Dexterity saving throws with advantage until the start of its next turn. The firebug loses this benefit if it becomes incapacitated or if its speed drops to 0.

Follow: As an action, the firebug can follow a creature you can see within 5ft of it. Until the start of the firebug’s next turn, it moves with the targeted creature and remains within 5ft of the creature at all times.

Attach: As an action, the firebug attaches onto a target within 5ft of it. The firebug remains attached to the target until it takes this action again to unattach from the target. If the firebug is attached to a creature, the firebug does not impede the creature’s movements. If the target is unwilling, it can make a Dexterity saving throw against your Spell Save DC. On a failed save, the firebug successfully attaches to the target, and on a successful save the firebug fails to attach to the target. An unwilling target with the firebug attached to it can use an action to make a Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check against your Spell Save DC to remove the attached firebug.
