Fate Bringer

Fate Bringer wizards are specialists in divination and prophetic magic. These wizards harbor mysterious knowledge that allows them to predict the future, change the present, and discover secrets hidden from the naked eye. With this foresight, a fate bringer wizard can weave and bend the strings of fate to hinder their opponents.

Portent

When you adopt this tradition at 3rd level, glimpses of the future begin to press in on your mind. When you finish a long rest, roll two d20s and record the numbers rolled. These foretelling rolls can replace the number you roll on the die of any attack roll, ability check, or saving throw you make. You must choose to use one of your foretelling rolls before the DM determines the result of the roll.

Alternatively, as a reaction you can use your foretelling rolls to replace the number rolled on the d20 of any attack roll, ability check, or saving throw made by another creature you can see within 60 feet. You must use this reaction before the DM determines the result of the roll.

Each foretelling roll can be used only once, and you can only hold a maximum of two foretelling rolls. When you use your Arcane Recovery feature, you can also roll a d20 and record that number as one foretelling roll. You cannot use this feature to exceed your maximum number of foretelling rolls.

Third Eye

Beginning at 3rd level, you can use divination magic to increase your awareness. As an action, you can open your mind, granting you the following benefits for the next 8 hours:

  • Darkvision: You gain darkvision out to a range of 30 feet.
  • Ethereal Sight: You can see invisible creatures and objects within 30 feet of you and in your line of sight. You can also see into the Ethereal plane within 30 feet of you.
  • Future Sense: You are immune to the surprised condition.

All of the benefits granted by your third eye are temporarily suspended while you are incapacitated.

Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until you complete a long rest, or you expend 2 mana points to activate it again.

Greater Portent

Beginning at 6th level, your teachings in divination improves your foretelling magic. Whenever you use your foretelling rolls granted by your Portent feature, you can expend 2 mana points and create an additional effect on the target of your portent feature. The effect produced is determined by the number of your foretelling roll, as shown in the table below:

Foretelling RollGreater Portent Effect
1-5The target must succeed on an Intelligence saving throw against your spell save DC, or have disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks until the end of your next turn.
6-10The target must succeed on an Intelligence saving throw against your spell save DC, or have its AC reduced by 1 until the end of your next turn.
11-15The target’s passive perception increases by 3 for the next hour.
16-20The target gains a 1d4 bonus to attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws until the end of your next turn.

Greater Comprehension

Starting at 6th level, while your Third Eye feature is active, you understand any written script.

Focused Foretelling

Starting at 10th level, you learn how to weave divination magic to quickly shape the fate and existence of the world around you.

Whenever you or a creature you can see within 60 feet makes an attack roll, ability check, saving throw, damage roll, or uses a feature or item that requires dice to be rolled, as a reaction you can weave your divination magic to increase or decrease the number rolled on one die in that result.

This bonus or penalty to the roll is equal to double the number of mana points you spend in this reaction, however you cannot cause the bonus to exceed the maximum or minimum number on the die, and the number of mana points you spend in this reaction cannot exceed your Intelligence modifier.

Once you use this reaction, you cannot use this reaction again until you complete a long rest, or you expend a 3rd level spell slot or higher to use this reaction again.

Expert Divination

Beginning at 14th level, you’ve become an expert at altering fate. You now roll three d20s for your Portent feature, and your maximum number of foretelling rolls increases to three.

Additionally, when you gain your foretelling rolls after completing a long rest, you may reroll one of your foretelling rolls and replace the old number with a new one. You must take the new result if you choose to reroll the die.

Illusory Awareness

Starting at 14th level, while your Third Eye feature is active, you can see through any magical illusions within 30 feet.
