Call Lightning
3rd-Level Conjuration
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 120 feet
Components: V, S
Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes
A storm cloud appears in the air centered on a point you can see within range. The storm cloud appears in the shape of a cylinder that is 10 feet tall and has a 40-foot radius. The area underneath the storm cloud becomes lightly obscured. If you create the spell at a point that cannot accommodate the cloud’s size, the cloud fills as much of the space it can, and spreads around corners.
When you cast the spell, choose a point you can see under the cloud. A bolt of lightning flashes down from the cloud to that point. If the point targets a creature or an object, make a ranged spell attack against the target. On hit, the target takes 3d8 lightning damage. At the start of each of your subsequent turns until the spell ends, you can call down lightning in this way again, targeting the same point or a different one.
If you are outdoors in stormy conditions when you cast this spell, the spell gives you control over the existing storm instead of creating a new one. Under such conditions, the spell's damage dice increases to d10s.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 3rd.
