Personal history

The King of Light (Sûn Religion), also known as KOL (Church of Kol), Kol-Vashar (Kol-Vashan) or The Outsider/Gathamuriel (Elvish Religion) is a deity found in many pantheons. Worshipers view him as a creator and/or supreme god, while opponents view Him as an interposer. All these faiths agree that it was he that slew most of the Fourteen Leviathans of Old, and it is for this that elves revile him. Worshipers other than the Kol-Vasharin believe that he sacrificed himself (Church of Kol), or some personage of Himself (X'ris in the Sûn and Drak'Kol religions) to defeat the binds of death that the Leviathans and the Mind-Lords had laid upon sapient beings. He is often connected directly with the Burning Days which ended the Eldar Empire.   At present, KOL is widely believed to stand that the bottom of the Abyss, at the 19,683rd layer, holding back the spirits of the Leviathans, preventing them from re-entering the material plane.   Skeptical scholars such as the Hunters of Truths Divine believe that KOL may have originated as a dragon Sun-God who later became identified with aspects of a God of Death, possibly due to the symbolic resonance of Sun/Fire/Rebirth. They are divided as to whether or not KOL actively holds the Leviathans at bay, or if this is simply a myth.
