Senapati (sen-uh-PAH-tee)

The Senapati is the title given to the ruler of Chamadia. The original meaning of the word was warlord, and it was the title given to the military ruler of the country, who served a Maharajah. When Chamadia became a theocracy in worship of the war-god Balphomar the Ironhanded, the Mahajarah was overthrown, and the Senapati became the military, political, and religious leader of the nation. Despite numerous attempts over the centuries by the Dagundai to install a new Maharajah, a Senapati inevitably takes back control of the nation.
