Bleak Bower

With the great forest of Neldorin, there is a stretch of woods known as the Bleak Bower. This haunted area is a place where the walls between Tol and the Shadowfell are thin, and the essence of that dark place leaks into our world. It's a place where the past regrets of those who travel through it are sometimes made manifest by dark and malevolent spirits. The folks of Faerinwold warn people from venturing into it, but sometimes there is little choice.

What travelers experience seems to reflect wrongs that have been done by them. An Orc raider passing through might hear voices of those they've wrong floating out to them, calling accusations and mocking them as cowards. A woman might hear the lover she spurned being ripped apart and screaming for help. A solider might hear dead comrades calling out of the mists, or a sailor might hear drowned friends calling from the area of a stream.

Leaving the path is perilous, but it can be very hard to resist. Many who do, however, are never seen again.
