Xarven Kael
Xarven is a gaunt, pale man with deep-set black eyes that gleam faintly in the dark. His hair is white and wispy, framing a face lined with unnatural cracks that glow faintly when he channels power. He wears ceremonial robes of tattered black and crimson, with the holy symbol of Kateus—a shattered skull—embroidered on his chest. Xarven carries a staff made of blackened bone, topped with a shard of his original artifact.
Xarven Kael was once a scholar devoted to studying the mysteries of death. Born in the bleak northern reaches near Malaja-rak, he became obsessed with the idea that life was a transient, pointless struggle against the inevitable.
During a forbidden expedition into ancient ruins, Xarven discovered a fragment of Kateus’s power—a shattered black skull. The artifact whispered to him, revealing nihilistic truths and granting him the ability to channel destructive necromantic energy.
Over years of dark rites, Xarven gained the power to manifest a cathedral to Kateus within Grindavik—a shadowy, imposing structure that emanates despair.
He was foiled in his efforts to extend the worship of Kateus in Grindavik by the Friday Night Lites . As they ended a ritual involving both Curfex and Niamh Dorchadas.
