The Beastie

The creature known as "The Beastie" is a horror that feeds on, and creates nightmares and fears. It resides in its lair within Korlan, at the headwaters of The Phantom Run. The creature is known by several names, including, but not limited to:

Having terrorized the area of Korlan for centuries, the Beastie was believed to have been defeated by the Teens of Toivoa campaign group.

However, it seems to return over and over again. When it goes on a rampage, it leaves its lair, and is known to roam far and wide. One such sighting was several hundred miles away in the village of Briar Glen.

During its attack upon Briar Glen, it injured the girl known as Ketlyn, and killed her family before it was driven off.

The creature is known to be able to manifest fears, phobias, and terrors of those within miles of it. Sensing what most drives the fears of those that approach it, it uses those things to torment, and deceive. Via deception, manipulation, and madness, it causes enemies to turn upon each other. It is when its foes are weakest that it will pounce upon prey, and finish them off.

The ability to spider-climb, fly, and even turn invisible at will, make it a horrible creature to face off against.

The Beastie is a creature that has been rumored to be responsible for several tragedies. Few people have survived an encounter, so the details of the creature are widely unverified. Still, The Beastie haunts the nightmares of those who have fallen in its path.

The Beatie may be Undead. Ketlin Redpath remembers seeing exposed bone. The Beastie prefers to hunt children. Children have been carried away twice from encounters in Briar Glen. The Beastie does not hunt to eat. Supposed killsites have displayed a horrific waste of flesh. The Beastie is not from this plane. Fanrath Woods is not its territory, though it has passed through. There have been no signs of migration. Encounters are not regular, and many years pass between recorded encounters.

Encounters 20 years ago. The beasts of Fanrath Woods were massacred by the swathe. A flock of crows was decimated to only a handful of surviving members. Bull Moose saw several healthy moose die. 20 years ago. Georgi and Hana Redpath. A caravan traveling from Fort Crag to Briar Glen were stalked by a creature. The married couple waited in ambush. Georgi and Hana were found, ripped to ribbons. Their young daughter, Ketlin Redpath, was missing and presumed dead. Later found to have survived, with no clear memories. 4 years ago. Ketlin Redpath. The Beastie attacked a group of children on a remote homestead outside Briar Glen. A boy, Sacha, was killed. The creature carried away the boy, Mikael. Ketlin successfully tracked the creature and returned the child to Briar Glen. Both Ketlin and Mikael survived with heavy injuries and disjointed memories of the event.
