Sun-Kissed Anemone
Sun-Kissed Anemone was the daughter of a well-respected member of the House, Shining Daylily. Daylily, who was also trained by Rose, had retired due to injuries and spent her days focusing on raising her daughter. Sunny grew up surrounded by a happy (if somewhat quirky) extended family at the Nightshade Monastery.
Early Life
Perhaps because of this upbringing, Sunny developed a personality matching her nickname. Friendly, extroverted, and generous—like a warm sunny day—Sun-Kissed Anemone never had trouble making friends. However, she couldn’t help but notice how she stood out from her peers. Giant wings and scales will do that. She inevitably asked her mother, a normal human, about her father’s identity. Daylily explained how she had found Sunny’s father injured after he fell from the sky and she nursed him back to health. He had left afterward, and it was later she found out she was pregnant. Sunny often wondered about her father but accepted that answer as the truth as she focused on training.
The Search for Her Father
Eventually, Daylily’s injuries caught up with her and she passed away when Sunny was a teenager. Sunny took a leave of absence from the House to find her father, whom she had always wanted to meet. Unfortunately, her dreams were shattered when she found him. He revealed to Sunny that at first, he trusted Daylily and even began falling for her seductions. However, he eventually found out that she was the one who used foul magic to pull him out of the sky in the first place. He left in a rage and was still too injured to return to the stars. He despised Daylily and was horrified to find out that he had a child. He almost killed Sunny then and there but couldn’t go through with it, instead telling her he never wanted to see her again.
Crisis and Recovery
This experience shook Sunny, and she fell into a deep depression. Rose was her sensei at the time and did her best to advise the young woman. Rose was able to point out how, even though the truth was difficult to accept, it ultimately didn’t change anything. The Sunny of yesterday was dead. There was only the Sunny of today. Living in the present was the only way to ease the pain that yearning for a future with a loving father caused her. Living in the present was the only way to ease the pain of knowing that her mother was not the person she thought she was. Living in the present was the only way for her to appreciate the family she already had.
It took some time, but Sun-Kissed Anemone grew to understand the wisdom of Rose's words and let go of those attachments that were causing her to suffer. She has since grown to be a powerful and respected member of the House.
Combat Style
In battle, she uses her flight to kite enemies. She’s a Way of the Ascendant Dragon monk, so she has learned to use her natural breath weapon, which she has improved through discipline and training. In addition to normal monk techniques (stunning, grappling), she likes to strafe groups of enemies and breathe on them in battle.
