Onwa
Onwa and Usil
Onwa is the moon god, while Usil is the sun god. Usil is the unchanging sun—persistent, steadfast, neutral, and the powerhouse of the Toivoan pantheon.
Onwa, on the other hand, is Usil's loyal companion but represents the opposite. Onwa is identified as sexually transient, changing with the phases of the moon. As the moon changes, so does the identity of Onwa:
- New moon: Onwa is androgynous.
- Waxing moon: Onwa is male.
- Full moon: Onwa is hermaphroditic.
- Waning moon: Onwa is female.
Onwa is responsible for change. Their presence allows the transition from one day to the next. Thus, both Usil and Onwa dance throughout eternity. Without Onwa, the same day would be repeated forever; without Usil, the hope, reliability, and light of dawn would never come.
