Luminastra
Astral Witch Luminastra (a.k.a. Skriker, Lumi)
Overview
Luminastra, affectionately known as Lumi, is a character of ethereal origin and complex alignment. A Fairy warlock with a deep connection to the astral and the arcane, her existence intertwines the fabric of reality with the mysteries of the cosmos. Standing at a mere two feet, her presence is nonetheless as captivating as the starlit sky, marked by her light grey hair with a steel blue sheen and skin as pale as moonlight with a glittering mist constantly surrounds her.
Background
Lumi's story begins in the vast expanse of the Astral Sea, where she traversed its wonders and encountered a myriad of beings, including her efreeti patron. This journey not only shaped her understanding of the universe but also defined her purpose: the collection of unique items and secrets. Her arrival in Toivoa, specifically in the southeastern tundra of Uthurg, marks the beginning of her adventures on the material plane.
Appearance
Her hair, light grey with a steel blue sheen, mirrors the twilight of distant galaxies, while her moonlit skin glows softly, betraying her celestial heritage. Deep within her eyes lies the infinite depth of the universe, a reflection of her long and storied journey through the Astral Sea.
Lumi's attire, shimmering like a starry night, moves with her in graceful harmony. The air around her vibrates with astral energy, a constant reminder of her bond with an enigmatic efreeti patron. Her every gesture speaks of her time in the Astral Sea, using her otherworldly charm in her interactions, often to negotiate or to unearth hidden knowledge.
Luminastra and Galafur
In the heart of Luminastra's adventures, beside the collection of cosmic curiosities and astral artifacts, stands Galafur — not merely a companion, but a pivotal presence in her journey. Galafur, a Maine Coon cat with ethereal qualities and an intelligence that transcends the ordinary, is more than a pet; he is a familiar, a guardian, and a friend, whose origins are as enigmatic as the cosmos itself.
Their bond transcends the usual ties between a warlock and their familiar. Galafur, with his shimmering fur that seems to hold the very essence of the Astral Sea, and eyes that reflect the depth of the universe, is a constant reminder of Luminastra's astral heritage. He is her connection to the vast unknown, a comforting presence that grounds her in her travels across planes.
Galafur's role in Luminastra's quest is multifaceted. He is her eyes and ears in places she cannot reach, her protector in moments of peril, and her confidant in times of solitude. Their communication transcends words, a testament to their deep, unspoken understanding and shared experiences across the myriad realms they've traversed.
Together, Luminastra and Galafur navigate the mysteries of the universe, their bond a symbol of the unbreakable connection between the astral and the material, the magical and the mundane. Their partnership is not just one of convenience but of destiny, as if the stars themselves conspired to unite them. In Galafur, Luminastra finds not only a companion for her adventures but a reflection of her own spirit — curious, resilient, and forever drawn to the boundless wonders of the cosmos.
New Campaign - Shau Diaries
Luminastra no longer has Galafur and has not recollection of ever adventuring with him in the Astral Sea.
The Astral Collector
As a Curious Collector, Lumi's passion lies in the accumulation of unique items and secrets. Each object in her collection is a cherished find, a testament to her unquenchable thirst for knowledge and the wonders of the universe. This obsession, however, sometimes leads her down risky paths, driven by the compulsion to organize and categorize her trove meticulously.
Her ideals are firmly rooted in fairness and knowledge. Lumi's belief in honest exchange over deceit is paramount in her dealings, and she values the freedom to explore and drift without constraints. Yet, despite her strong principles, she often finds herself indecisive, overwhelmed by the sheer possibilities that life presents.
Despite her detached demeanor, a consequence of her long life and ethereal experiences, Lumi views her collection as her legacy. It's a legacy that she believes will tell her story long after she has returned to the stars, a story of a Fairy warlock forever wandering, forever wondering, and forever collecting the mysteries of the cosmos.
The Astral Sea
In the ethereal expanse of the Astral Sea, where Luminastra spent an extensive part of her existence, the mundane necessities of the material world, such as eating and drinking, become obsolete. For 120 years, Luminastra was unbound by the demands of Time and by the physical demands of sustenance, a freedom that allowed her to explore the vast mysteries of the cosmos without the interruption of hunger, thirst or rest. During this time, her indulgence in food was purely for the experience of taste, an exploration of flavors rather than a means to satisfy hunger.
Now, finding herself bound to the material plane, Luminastra faces the reawakening of a primal necessity she had long forgotten: hunger. This newfound—or rather, rediscovered—sensation of needing to eat for sustenance rather than pleasure is a source of both stress and disdain for her. The experience of hunger, an echo from a distant past, feels alien and intrusive, clashing with her astral nature and the freedom she once enjoyed.
The stress of dealing with hunger, a feeling she had not known for over a century, might leave Luminastra longing for the simplicity and tranquility of the Astral Sea, where such bodily demands didn't dictate the rhythm of her existence. This adjustment to the material world's requirements represents a significant shift in her perception and experience of living, introducing a discomfort that she might deeply resent, as it chains her to a reality far removed from the boundless freedom of the astral realms she so dearly misses.
Lumi's Past
The origins and early years of Luminastra, are shrouded in mystery, even to herself. While fragments of memories suggest a life once lived within the vibrant and whimsical realms of the Feywild, the details of such existence remain elusive, like whispers lost in the wind. Lumi's recollection of her time in the Feywild is fragmented, consisting more of fleeting sensations and impressions than concrete experiences. The vivid colors, the capricious whims of the land, and the ever-present sense of enchantment suggest a life deeply intertwined with the magic of the fey, yet specifics elude her grasp.
However, these memories from the Feywild, as ethereal and fragmented as they are, hold little significance for Lumi compared to her extensive experiences in the Astral Sea. It is the Astral Sea that has truly shaped her, its endless expanse and the profound sense of freedom it offered becoming the cornerstone of her identity. The years — or perhaps, centuries — spent drifting through its silvery void have left an indelible mark on her soul, far outweighing the echoes of her feywild origins.
For Lumi, the Astral Sea is not just a place of exploration but a home that nurtured her curiosity and fueled her growth. It is there that she forged her bond with her efreeti patron, gathered her unique collection, and learned the true extent of her powers. Her life in the Astral Sea has been a journey of discovery, of understanding the fabric of the cosmos, and of realizing her place within it.
Thus, while Lumi acknowledges her origins in the Feywild, she does not dwell on them. To her, those early years are but a prelude to the grand adventure of her existence in the Astral Sea. The mysteries of her past hold little allure compared to the wonders she has witnessed and the knowledge she has gained in her celestial wanderings. Her past in the Feywild, with its vague memories, is viewed through the lens of curiosity but without the weight of importance she places on her astral experiences. For Lumi, life truly began the moment she set sail across the star-strewn sea of the Astral, and it is this chapter of her story that she cherishes above all.
Skriker, The Herald of Death and Disaster for Oathbreakers
Before her memories were altered, Luminastra was known as Skriker, a key member of a covert assault team operating under the directive of Starflower, the head of the House of Flowers. This elite unit was tasked with a critical mission: to infiltrate and neutralize the northern bounding shard of the flying city of Akhru.
Skriker, along with her companions Ejid, Rock, Stone, and Canon, executed a daring plan. They crash-landed the flying crystal ship of the House of Flowers into the doors of the northern bounding shard temple of Akhru. This audacious move enabled them to engage and defeat the temple's defenders, ultimately disabling the bounding shard and destroying its control mechanisms.
Following their successful mission, Skriker and her team made a swift exit and journeyed across Toivoa. During their travels, they visited numerous sites of ancient flying cities and empires, uncovering the secrets and histories of these magnificent civilizations.
House of the Astral Dahlia
Following the successful destruction of the flying city of Akhru, Skriker was appointed leader of her own faction, the House of the Astral Dahlia. Her mission was to extend the influence of the House of Flowers into the Astral Plane. To support this endeavor, she was assisted by Ramassez in establishing and organizing the new house.
