Tarassig (tar-ass-igg)

Basic Information

Anatomy

The spines of tarassigs are long, highly flexible and extremely strong, allowing them to navigate easily through the small gaps and large drops of the Broken Mountains. They have four short legs, each with 7 fingers. Their 3-inch claws allow them to scale the sharp mountainsides with ease. Their front legs are far enough away from their back legs that a tarassig's stomach will occasionally scrape against the surface of the mountains. The skin of their underbelly is tougher and harder to prevent damage from occurring during these times.   A double row of teeth and the ability to unhinge their jaw gives tarassigs an extreme advantage when other creatures attempt to invade their territory. Though their diet consists mainly of Fel moss and a certain kind of rock found in Mountain caves, the tarassig is an omnivore and will happily consume meat when given the chance, whether that's a rival tarassig or an invading foreign species.   The mane of quills across a tarassig's head and running along their back acts as both a defensive measure from attacking creatures, violent winds and falling rocks, as well as an offensive measure against potential prey.
