Darktail Butterfly
"These aren't your friendly garden visitors, kid, these things could melt your face off with a simple touch, or maybe just swallow you whole if they were feeling peckish"
Basic Information
Anatomy
The bodies of darktail butterflies are far taller than the average Human and typically thicker. On present-day Earth, without the sheer amount of magics and energies that are present in the Nether, insects this size would typically be crushed under their own weight or would be unable to breathe. Their tough exoskeletons, which mutated to become harder than stone during the Cataclysm, helps to prevent them collapsing, as well as protecting them from their formidable prey, the devil wolves native to Stormisles.
Darktails are armed with 6 legs, each with 3 finger-like appendages at the end. These legs secrete a thick, sticky substance which acts akin to a pre-digestive acid, aiding the darktails in both catching their prey and breaking down the prey's bodies to make consuming them easier. The mouths of darktail butterflies, previously small and harmless, are now full of sharp needle teeth, made from the butterflies' exoskeletons.
Four giant wings gift darktails with the ability to fly between the islands of Stormisles. These wings are almost sheer when spred, often grey or green in colour, with forboding patterns painted across them in bold greens, reds, yellows and blues. The main body of a darktail is typically blue or grey, lightest in colour at their heads and darkest at the tip, the trait lending them their species' name.

Geographic Origin and Distribution
Although darktail butterflies are native exclusively in Stormisles, within the Netherworld, there are a few specimens on Earth. These individuals are kept at unique zoos, within specialised cages which support their bodies by use of Fel magic spun by Warlocks.
