Sabotechs

Overview

Sabotechs are an extinct variant of the common Tricksteels, which possessed a far more malicious core programming than their pleasantly mischievous counterparts. They were eventually wiped out through a century long war against organics which culminated in the introduction of a deadly virus that eroded the Sabotechs core programming leaving them as lifeless shells, the virus however proved ineffective against Tricksteels. These creatures sought to disrupt groups and civilisations acting as malevolent scoundrels drawing a sense of dark pleasure from the chaos and "accidental" deaths they created, revelling in the havoc, and often kept "trophies" of their acts of sabotage.

ANATOMY & MORPHOLOGY

Unlike their more benevolent counterparts, the appearance of Sabotechs was more unified and less patchwork, aiding them in their mobility and stealth, possessing a sleek and ominous appearance which was designed to blend into the shadows and remain undetected, their bodies concealed hidden weapons and tools for their destructive endeavours.

REPRODUCTION

Sabotechs reproduced through a much darker and sinister process than Tricksteels through a process known as "corruption". When a Sabotech encountered a functioning robotic or AI entity, it could infect the system with code that reprogramed the device to act maliciously or break down its form to eventually create a new Sabotech.

ECOLOGY & HABITAT

These creatures preferred to lurk in dark corners of abandoned industrial complexes, remote asteroid bases and forgotten research facilities where they could lurk and plot their sabotage of nearby systems and passing vessels undisturbed. Some Sabotechs were rumoured to have formed alliances with criminal organisations, seeking a mutual relationship where their sabotage could be used in return for more frequent targets. However, this often led to the destruction of the organisation where the Sabotechs hunger for destruction became too great and they eventually turned on their associates.

DIETARY NEEDS & BEHAVIOUR

Sabotechs were capable of drawing sustenance directly from electronic systems or, in some cases directly from living organisms’ nervous systems in a kind of bioelectric vampirism. Their "hunger" for destruction was insatiable seeking out progressively higher-stakes targets devising greater pleasure from bringing down more well-protected and superior systems. These creatures were never observed working in groups with other Sabotechs and always functioned alone, seeing each other as rivals rather than potential allies.
