Parasite
A parasitic infection is not a Disease as most would associate the two together. Parasites are living organism that lives inside the host, and feeds off its nutrients. Unlike a disease which can get better overtime, parasites often multiply progressively.
A priest, healer, or medicine-man may have local or unorthodox cures for parasite removals by consuming certain products, or through niche practices.
Eye-worm
A silvery worm barely longer than a grain of rice.
Easily contracted swimming in swamp water, the worm burrows itself under the character's eye lid, and takes advantage to lay eggs in the eyelid. After 1 day left untreated, the eggs hatch, and babies burrow into the eyeball itself.
While infected, the babies multiply rapidly in the eyeball, reducing their vision in 1 eye, and lowering Perception by 2.
Overtime, the end-result the infected will be permanently Blinded.
Parasite Eggs
This parasite is generic category whereby a creature uses the character as a host for its offspring. The eggs are forcefully implanted through an orifice. The baby worms feed on lung mucus and membrane, leading to horrible coughs which occasionally produce tiny pink worms. In the beginning stages, the infected may not know they carry such a parasite.
Slowly the character's stamina suffers have the parasite imposes disadvantage on all Strength and Constitution checks and saving throws. The infection itself is not lethal, but depending on the type of parasite implanted, the end result may range from sickness or to death.
Stomach Crawler
A long, thin worm that can grow to the length of an intestine.
Moderately contracted consuming spoiled foodstuffs, the worm is tiny and barely noticeable at the start. Once it found a suitable, warm, and fluid environment, it makes its nest and starts to eat away at the stomach lining, eventually bursting its way out of the stomach, fully grown.
The character's maximum hit points will decrease by 5 times the number of days ingested, and eventually the worm will deal piercing damage on the exit.
Fungal Parasite
The infected comes into contact with spores which cause parasitic fungus affliction that seeds into the infected host turning them into hideous monstrosities over time. The parasite takes control of the brain matter, which makes it hard for the host to think and control its bodily function.
Large bulbous cysts begin to form just under the skin, while tumors start to grow in the host's brain. The character first suffers from having Disadvantage on all Intelligence and Charisma checks, as a result of disfiguration and tumor. Overtime, they lose the ability to Concentrate on any spell, and movement in combat is determined via a 1D4 dice roll.
If left by itself, the parasite grows into the brain, resulting in permanent INT damage, and loss of all reasoning.
Impregnation
This only affects creatures with a womb capable of reproduction. The small invasive offspring feeds on nutrients of the host, and uses the womb as a cavity for it to grow.
The affected character's movement is halved. There is 1D4 chance to receive no benefits from Short Rest, Long Rest, any form of healing. There is 1D4 chance that spells will fail and attack rolls will miss.
