Fangthane
(Durath Tör)
Durath Tör, also known in the common tongue to most as Fangthane, is the ancient home of a mighty dwarf clan in Allansia. It was ruled by King Murgeddin, Sixth of His Name.
History
The dwarves had been allies with the King of Cauldron, and a trade route called the King's Highway was constructed to honor the strong ties between the two kingdoms. With the King's Highway, wagons are now able to traverse the rugged northern terrains and provide a safe route for merchants and travelers from the brigands that roam the wilderness. Over time trade flourished.
Travelers eventually needed to restock and set up camp as the journey from the Frozen Wastes to Fangthane is several days. Agnall Dineval, the Elder of a town called Frostholme at the mountain's foot, quickly opportune a relationship with the dwarves of Fangthane, and welcomed travelers to their town. Frostholme thrived from the dwarves' booming business. However, after the War, the King's Highway fell into disuse, overrun by bandits and outlaws over the years of neglect.
Breaking of the Bonds
When the King of Cauldron called for allies to defend Cauldron, the dwarves did not answer. Fearing that their mountain kingdom will be lost should they march off to fight in the War, the dwarves closed off the Doors of Ozarn, the door to the mountain. Tales spat at how the dwarves dishonored their bonds and chose to hid under their mountain to protect their wealth.
Fall of Fangthane
Because of the dwarves reclusive nature, people believed the dwarves are still under the mountain with the great hordes of treasure and mithril. In truth, shortly before the fall of Throben, the Orcun turned their attention to the impenetrable fortress. After a hard-fought siege lasting months, the orcs somehow managed to find a weakness of the mountain and tunneled around the dwarven defenses. When they finally stormed the place, they put all within to the sword, then carried off wagonloads of booty.
With the Doors of Ozarn forever shut, the kingdom of Fangthane became lost, and Durath Tör faded from tales and became a memory, except to some dwarves who are eager to find their distant cousins and reclaim the mountain hold (see Campaign "Forge of Fangthane").
The once glorious King's Highway, with the rare merchant being turned away from the Doors of Ozarn.
