Darkwood Forest

Darkwood Forest is widely regarded as a dangerous place full of unknown perils, earning it the name, Forest of Doom.   The forest is bordered on the west by the village of Stonebridge, and on the east by the Moonstone Hills. The Catfish River meanders through the forest, cutting it into the western and eastern Darkwood Forest, before being joined by Red River to the northeast.   The forest is infested with all manner of monsters, but there are a number of folk who call the place home, that prefer its natural isolation to that of cities.

Politics and Factions

  Wood-Elves of Ash Cleeve
High above the woods of eastern forest, lies the woodland elves village of Ash Cleeve. Few know of its location, as the elven trails on the forest floor hides traces of the Wood-Elves' activities. Unsuspecting beasts may sometimes land into a hunting traps laid by the elves.     Slykk Territory
Humanoid frog-like creatures known as Slykks have made their home on the eastern embankments of the river fork, and are very territorial in nature. While Slykk may not recognise travellers as predators, they do watch outsiders very carefully and stealthily, before deciding to kill or frighten them.     Underhollow
Several large trees are hollowed out, and expertly crafted staircase leads down to a series of tunnels and mushroom gardens tendered by a Dark-Elf community. Below Darkwood, lies an ancient Dark-Elf kingdom, Naefaleorn, ruled by their queen. Dark-Elves here are evil, and are power-hungry beings that are always scheming, and ploting in the shadows. Recently, the Dark-Elves have surfaced their new champion in the form of a human man, Malbordus. Malbordus was born on Shekka's moon and abandoned in the forest when his mother found he has six fingers. With terrible predictament of fate, the elves decided to spare the human child and raised him as one of their own. They taught him their wicked ways and he in return displayed unnatural powers of magic and dark arts commandments beyond their expectations. When Malbordus finally turned into manhood, his hair had thinned and his skin had became incredibly pale and sallow, having spent the years devoid of sunlight, but a strong magician nonetheless.     Weavers
On the east side, are intelligent spiders that made their nest there. The tracks into the spider's area are filled with cobwebs, and is a sign to outsiders to stay out. Those travellers that been into the nest and came out alive swore that they heard the spiders conversing in common.     Forest Bandits
Hillmen that came down from the Moonstone Hills know Darkwood holds much resources, and often waylay foolhardy travellers that make their way through the forest for extra treasure. The hillmen are timid and cowardy, and only fight in numbers and flee in face of danger. However, having spent time on the western side, they are familar navigating the dangerous forest.
