The Realm of Dreams

Fictionalized in The Trouble with Dreams, the Realm of Dreams is a place where people go when they sleep. It is possible that the Realm of Dreams has a basis in the reality of the Tiresian Archives.

The Trouble with Dreams

In this fiction one-shot, it is almost entirely set in the Realm of Dreams save for the framing narrative. The Realm of Dreams is split in two, with the more lighthearted dreams on one side of a door, and the nightmares on the other.   The first the party went into was the Landing Zone, where they met the guard Hornelius. It is a giant gate where they question dreamers before they’re allowed into the Realm of Dreams. The second is a snail jousting ring, there’s a giant ring of mushrooms around a stage, where two weretigers were fighting. The next place is the dreaming throne, where the Dreaming King resides.Another place they adventured was “Home,” which is your home, and also their home, and really, everyone’s home. There was the bathtub graveyard, where a girl and her dead octopus brother live. Then there is the door that separates the dreams from nightmares, where the brave mice patrol.   As we delve into nightmares, we find the horrifying Falling Teeth, where teeth fall out of your mouth and turn into tooth creatures. Then we have Sir Knightmare’s realm, the Hunted Hall, where Sir Knightmare rules and goes on his hunts. Then, finally, there was Recursive Waking, where the two spider women (Mrs. and Mrs. Cobweb) put you into a nightmare spiral until you’re exhausted, and then attack you. There’s other ways to get out of course, as it’s all an illusion.
