Solace L'saguaro (he/they) is a character played by Keiran (she/they) in Arc 5: The Cerulean Guile. He is a beasthide shifter, zealot barbarian 11/hexblade warlock 1, and a soldier.
Description
Solace L'saguaro is a 6'7 porcupine shifter, very beefy man, usually seen with a cigarette in hand. He has white hair and kind of a mullet, with the longer section pulled back into a ponytail. He has thick dark eyebrows, clawmark scars on his cheeks, and has piercings all over his face. They typically have a light grayish 5 o'clock shadow, and furrowed, angry eyebrows. When he shifts, the hair on his body kind of becomes the porcupine spikes.
They are very business/task oriented. Known for being the tank and for doing a lot of damage, he's very much a "act first, ask questions later" kind of person. They don't show a lot of emotion to their fellow party members, and any of his personal life is kept under wraps to the best of his abilities. He has a deep seated anger that often comes up.
Backstory
Solace joined the organization young and rose up through the ranks at an average speed. He's capable, although he sometimes lets his anger get the better of him. He's the middle child of a single mother, and he is (was?) married, which his fellow crew members can tell because he wears a simple silver wedding band on his left hand.
What his crew did not know was that his wife was a member of the command center for many year, named Aywen Adlana, and they had a child together, Carus Adlana. When Carus turned 18, he joined the organization, and promptly rose through the ranks. When he was 19, he was sent on a mission and did not return, and it was reported that he died on the mission.
After this, Aywen and Solace's marriage was strained, and at one point, Solace was sent on a mission. While on that mission, he was told that the people they were fighting had killed Carus, and he went into a blind rage, slaughtering all of them. When he returned, he told Aywen that he avenged their son, but Aywen didn't believe it. This argument directly resulted in their divorce after months of struggling.
Solace isn't sure what to believe, whether or not Carus is actually dead, whether or not the people he killed were to blame, but what he does know to blame is the organization. Carus was practically a child, and they sent him to his death. Solace's righteous rage keeps him going, and as he begins to set out on this mission, he doesn't intend to live to the end of it.
Trivia
- Keiran looked up porcupine pet names and ended up with "solace" and "saguaro".
- Keiran has made a semi-accurate picrew of Solace, seen here, as well as a playlist for them which can be found here.
