Pelor

The following information is sourced from the Critical Role Wiki   Pelor, the Dawnfather is the god of the sun, summer, and agriculture. He is said to reside in the Fortress of the Sun in the Fields of Elysium. He is regarded as good.

Description

Like all deities noted in the Tiresian Archives, descriptions of Pelor can change according to how the deity presents themself to different people. Traditionally, Pelor is a masculine entity who wears a white cloak over an intricate golden plate armor. Where a head would be, instead, there is a burning star. An almost featureless male head burns within the corona. Accounts from those to whom this face has been revealed note the Dawnfather had soft cheeks, a hairless head, and bright, warm eyes.   Pelor comes across as a stern but fair god. It vexes him when someone who does not follow him asks for his blessing, but rather than seek retribution against them for such a request, he has been known to grant them a trial to earn his favor.

History

Pelor was one of the first and most important gods to offer divine support and protection to mortals. He worked with other deities, such as Moradin, Melora, Avandra, Ioun, Sehanine, and Sarenrae to combat other divine and primordial beings seeking to wipe out all mortal life. Some enemies faced during this war were Tharizdun, Torog, Lolth, and the Lord of the Nine Hells.   Once these betrayers were defeated, Pelor and his compatriots retreated behind a divine gate so that gods and mortals would never walk the same ground again, and tragedies like this war would not be repeated.

The Rites of Prime Banishment

During the war, Pelor, with the help of Moradin, Avandra and Ioun, enacted the first ever Rites of Prime Banishment. This ritual used divine trammels to reimprison Tharizdun within the Abyss.

Worshippers

Pelor is generally worshiped by farmers and people who live off the land. Many Life, Light, and Nature Clerics devote themselves to the Dawnfather.
